And when I say tape I mean scotch brand tape. Its in its cage to keep a peice of cardboard over some bars that are crappy, so that it can't get out of the cage, but now Pedro's started to try and eat the tape..what should I do? I can't afford a new cage, although I'd really like to be able to buy one for the little guy, but I really can't afford it, and I'm not prone to borrowing, REALLY not prone to borrowing. what should I do? Cover the tape up with more tape? Or something else? I'm having a brain fart here >.< Any suggestions?
I'm not sure....is there anyway you can keep the tape to the outside so she can't get to it? Because i'd be very worried about the glue used on tape being toxic.

There! I fixed it, I think it was boredom that was making Pedro try and eat the tape, he never actually ate anything though, thank goodness. I put a few toys in there and now he's fine, and now I'm working on making the tape be outside of the cage, like you said, Bea ^^ That or I'll find a small stick or something to stick in there so that little peice of paper doesn't move ^-^ Gosh I love sticks! :P

I would try to avoid all kinds of tape around budgies since they chew. I had a good friend who was trying to breed budgies and was having no results. He had seen my set-up, asked lots of questions, read a lot, had a good set-up, etc. but, even though his budgies were visiting the nest boxes, nothing was happening. I went over and checked out his cages, etc., and noticed he had used tape around the door edges to avoid getting cuts and scrapes when he opened the doors. (His cages were made from hardware cloth and the "cuts" were sharp. He wasn't using a clean cut cutter to avoid sharp edges.)
I could see nothing different from my breeding set-up except the tape. I suggested he remove the tape and I lent him my clean cut pliers. Within a week of removing the tape, his hens were laying. Don't know if the tape really had anything to do with it but whatever was the problem seemed to have gone away when the tape was no longer used.
I can't help but think the tape DID have something to do with it. Who knows???
