:budgie: The Epic Training Aventures of Phoenix :budgie:

:budge: Hand Taming Progresss :budge:

Today we made some great progress. Phoenix flew out of the cage, all on his own! He explored my room alittle, but he mostly sat on the top of his cage. I had put the plygym on top of the cage, too. He landed on it once, and eyed it pretty well. He nibbled on the ladder a bit. He was thinking about testing it out.
If I move slow, he lets me stroke him lightly, and got him to step up on a swing and put him in the cage.

He hasn't said any thing yet, but its only been about two weeks. I'm teaching him to say "Watcha doin'?" He looks at me intently when I say this directly to him, and tips his head. He chirped to me when I spoke the phrase. :spin:

Today I didn't do much - just put my hand on a perch for about 10 minutes twice today. I also held a strand of millet out, he ate about an inch. Working on getting him to eat out of my palm. I'm being very paitent with him- I'm in no rush. :)

Talking Progresss

I just repeated the phrase alot today. He made some very strange noises, some that I've never heard before. Perhaps he's trying to talk?

Sounds like you are doing a great job training him! Keep it up and in no time he will be your best buddy! lol

And it sounds like he may be trying to talk, he just needs to finish figuring it out and then he'll repeat what you say!

Thanks so much for the positive words! It gives me fresh excitment and hope ;) I'm so happy with him. He lets me know when I go to far, like if I pet him to hard or fast, he'll reach his head over, like hes gonna bite me. I back off at that point. But hes not mean. He's so cute, when he yawns or fluffs up ;). If he learns to talk, I'm gonna teach him to say " Here kitty kitty." She what my cats think of that :D

Hand Taming Progresss

Today we made amazing progress!! I and my index finger out like like a perch. I was trying to get him on my finger with millet, which he would eat but he wouldn't step up. Oh well, its the first time I tried that, but he did nibble on my finger three times. Then I got a shorter millet and I layed it across my palm. He craned his neck and ate quit a bit of the millet, but then he decided he was done and scooted down the perch. I felt so happy, because I've been trying this for a week and he finally gathered up his courage :D :D :D

Talking Progresss

He sings and chirps to me when I say the phrase.
