Luna

Well, it's official. Her name is Luna, and I brought her home from the petstore as an impulse buy.... Sort of. I mew that I wanted to get another budgie for Rowan, since his friend, and my first budgie, died. But I wasn't planning on acquiring another one until later.

Luna is a sky blue opaline cinnamon American budgie, and quite the active one at that. I got her on Monday, June 27, and everyday since then, she has gotten more active, and Olympian. She loves hanging upside down and doing budgie splits. When I go back to the petstore this weekend, or early next week, I'll be picking up a ladder and another hanging toy just for her.

As I type this, she's next to me in her quarantine cage, hanging, and preening herself...

Anyways. I've made no attempt to put my hand near the cage until today. I have my drink along side of it, and have only reached for it once, and very slowly to see how she would react. She did surprising well. I thought that she'd start flapping, but she calmly sat there, staring.

She's even started to chirp occasionally, very quiet, and always the same tone. She's starting to come out a bit more. This morning she actually woke me up because she was making so much noise. Anyone in my family can tell you that's quite a feat.

I need to switch out her food/water today, but I'm a bit nervous, and think it's a bit early.

She fancies herself an escape artist, and has starting gnawing on the cage's door.... Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to get her chewables, or else the cage might not survive!:)

Yes! She's my Little Luna. She's so cute, I can't help it! I'm pretty sure she thought her name was Baby for a while!! :giggle:

Well that part surprises me. Rowan is quite loud, and I can hear him downstairs, so I know for sure she can, but she didn't seem to show much interest. She chirped when she heard the birds outside... Hmm. It might be a bit early...

Just finished changing out Luna's food. She did really well. Happy with it. Just wish I had some millet for her. :( She barely moved, she was sitting there, watching me.

Day 4,5

Luna's an expensive little girl! I went back to the pet store to get her a few things I thought she needed. In all, I ended up spending about $20 more than I would have liked... Oh well, she's worth it.
Anyways, I changed out her food, and added a few things to her diet-namely millet, because I actually got some!! How exciting!
While my "Evil Hand" was in the cage, she sat there,like a wonderful little budgie, watching my hand move forward and backward, forward and backward. Wow, that big THING must really not know where its going!!
She didn't fly or anything, just sat and stared...

July 1

Well, i have discovered that Luna does not like millet. Totally took my by surprise. Oh well, at least she's watching her weight.:) today she flew out of her cage. Eep.
Well, that was exciting. So after we both got settled again, we took a little field trip to the living room where we both could enjoy some good episodes of the Mentalist, and she could practice her acrobatics for a real crowd. Namely Madison and Phantom. Tough crowd.
Well, my parents came home, and they haven't believed me when i say that she is nutzoid about climbing. Well they saw it first hand tonight. Wish i recorded it. Looked like Scrat from Ice Age!
The bars on her cage are vertical(>.<) so she's a little fireman climbing up, and sliding down. Anyways, she squeezes in between the bars and her water dish, and is just diving and doing crazy things. Then she does splits right above her dish on the wall. Oops. There she does. Right into the water dish. Oh well, at least she got her bath.
So now she is soaking wet. Yay.
Oh! Back to Scrat. She climbed up, but slowly started to slide down, and by the time she realized it, she was too far. So she's stretching as far as she can go. Neck extended, beak open, tongue out, and she still can't reach it!!

Ok! I'm back!
Luna is not little miss quiet anymore!! Anything but! Her and Rowan are always talking to eacother! It's adorable! And she does like millet, she just likes to be a butt too! Lol! You have to give it to her the EXACT way she likes it! Oi! Crazy child!!!
