Well, after my long absence, I'm back, obviously. You must be so thrilled...
Well, I just thought that I should warn you that I'll be hanging around once more, and since it's summer.
Anyways, here I go, since I decided to start all over from the very beginning...
11:28am
Last night and this morning I was messing around with my uke and Rowan loves it now more than ever...And I was so happy to see him bobbing his head up and down, which I believe that's birds body language for friends (I think, that's what I read, someone please correct me if I am wrong.) So I stood up and put my elbows on the dresser and my head on my hands and just talked to him...And that's when the whole blinking/winking game commenced.
So, I believe this is good...I'm going to do the same thing a little later and see what happens then.

Yes, he was bobbing his head because he was happy with your music and wanted you to see how handsome he is. I love the blinking/winking game. ;)

Oh he's at it again, but this time, I'm standing up looking at him as I type this. Gotta love technology right? I've got no uke this time, standing about a foot away from his cage and he's wracking up a STORM! All puffed up, half preening himself, winking every chance he gets, warbling and chirping AND head bobbing!! Stinking adorable!

He can't figure put if he wants to preen or head bob!

My goodness he is crazy! A little attention from me and he starts flying around all crazy, landing on his swing and climbing up the side of it until he's on his perch and starts flying again...I've never seen him do that before so I'm excited.

So, he's finally calmed down, just chilling in front of his mirror, yay me...
I stood in front again, and was just watching him, he's looking at me, and all of a sudden I realize he's winking at me! He actually started it this time! Normally I have to start it and then, after a while he figures out what I'm trying to do...oh, what he must think of me...Oddest looking bird, I must say!
Oh there I go again! Anyways, he's doing his whole winking thing, and now he's clicking his beak...He's not opening his mouth all the way, but I don't think it's grinding... Maybe he's tired or maybe I'm under thinking it... Could this mean that he's finally content with me standing there watching him like a creeper?

Another question about body language... You must be getting annoyed already, but I want to make sure I'm not misinterpreting anything because I don't want to terrify him because he was doing something to say back up and I thought it meant green light. Anyways, he was running up and down the perch closest to the cage door and where I was standing, making the lap about three or four times, then finally he jumps to the one in the corner by his mirror... Did I scare him?

Well, feeding time went over better today, that's for sure. Normally as soon as I open the cage door, Rowan tenses up, then bails to the right side of his cage. Today, I came prepared. I had my uke with me, and kept the door closed, just playing and talking to him like if I were trying to get him to relax. Then after a couple of minutes, I opened the door, and then stood there, talking and playing. He was hanging out my his mirror before, but somehow he was sitting on the perch, hanging out near the farthest end away from the mirror. Finally he starts clicking and chirping and starts winking.
So I carefully put down my uke, and start talking to him while slowly liding my hand up into the cage. He gets a tad bit quieter, and sits watching me, while I'm winking/blinking at him. I get my hand on the dish and he still hasn't moved. This hasn't happened before. Unfortunately, I have to release the dish on the outside of the cage, which requires two hands, and a lot of noise. He did really good though, until the noise then he flew, but I don't blame him.
On the way back in, I did the same thing, even though he was on the opposite sid of the cage, above his water dish. I decided to throw in some millet, since he did so well. He saw that! He practically jumped down onto the perch with his water dish and was totally eyeballing it. I just put it in his food dish since I don't want to put my hands too close to him yet.
And that was my morning.

Yes!!
It's adorable!
I stick my hand in the cage with some food and Row doesn't even hesitate! He just jumps right on and goes to chewing! I'll definitely have to get some pictures up! Soo cute!!
