Billy Bob woke me up with the good morning wing flutter and tapping on his silver bell. Billy loves the shiny shiny stuff.

During the day, Billy Bob and I sat in the lounge room together, we played hand-ladder for a little bit. He also ran around on the carpet. He doesn't know what to think of the linoleum floor in the dining room and wouldn't walk on it.

I had to keep all of the windows and doors shut as Billy could hear the wild birds chirping and he would scream-call for them. Poor guy misses his flock-mates at the store.

In the evening, Billy Bob ate from my hand while sitting on his hanging ring perch for ten-twenty minutes. I was standing for awhile and I tried to convince him to eat of his bowl but no go. He wanted to be on his ring perch and eating out of my hand so I had to sit his whole cage down on the bed just so I could sit down too. Lol

Last night, introduced millet spray. He confused it for a perch. :XD:

It sounds like you two are getting along great! Congratulations on getting him to eat out of your hand. Although his dish would be better and more comfortable for you! :p

Billy Bob is such a cutie! And I love his name!

Sounds like you know just what to do! I wish i was as confident...
Its Poppys second day here too, doing my best to help him feel at home, I was playing budgie sounds i found on the internet and thought it would help him adjust to his new home. He chirped along with the birds on the clip.. or is this a bad idea making him look for birds that are not there?? Ive also been playing the nature channel on the TV when i am gone so he dosnt feel lonely... After losing the first bird i am determined to do the best I can do to keep him Happy

I think it's okay to show him videos of other birds.
Billy Bob usually scream-calls to the outside birds but when he watches youtube, he actually chirps and he doesn't go all fluffy or tremble like he's scared. Sometimes he goes "corn dog" and it's really cute.

Billy Bob is amazingly distracting when trying to do house work but he did not seem to mind the vacuum.
He discovered that millet spray is food! We practiced stepping up with millet spray and it worked very well. Like a carrot in front of a donkey.
I am also teaching him "jump" when we play hand ladders, I keep my hands a little further apart so that he flaps his wings when he goes to the next hand.
I also added some tree branches that I found outside, I cleaned them first of course! He loved rubbing his beak on the natural wood.
He is also addicted to youtube. We watched other budgies for about 30 minutes. He chirped softly when the youtube budgies did the same.
With Billy perched on my finger, we walked through the whole house a few times, he really seems to like exploring the house. He goes into corn-dog mode and moves all around so he can see above and under things and he will try to turn around when we go to leave the rooms.

Billy had his first bath... sort of.
Billy Bob had managed to get some greenness on his white tail from his poo so I filled a little water in the bath tub and set him down in the water. He wasn't that impressed, he wanted out of the water and didn't even preen after getting out! But his tail is back to white.
I have added tons of perches to his cage, it's now easier for him to eat, drink and even climb to the door. I've also added a ladder to his higher perches because he's not the graceful type... I still hear him fall once in awhile but maybe he'll get the hang of it.

Billy still calls out to the wild birds and I'm hoping that he will eventually stop doing this because I'm running out of aspirin! Lol

And he's starting to assert himself, with all the extra perches he finds ways to step off my finger before getting to the cage door so more millet work! :P
