my female is an avg of besides night , ya she practically lives in the nest box and my female is about 4 years and my male is almost 8 months on may 14... i also have 2 other keets mika and baby but there in a different cage then tiks and polly. mika is a rare yellow greywing and baby is a green. polly is a sky blue and tiki is a turquoise body with a yellow head . tiki wouldnt mate with mika because they are brother and sister so i put him with polly and it was a perfect match ..i put them together yesturday in the morning :budgie: :budgie: :budgie:
Yes it is normal for the female not to let the male budgie in for a few weeks. You will see that after the eggs hatch the male and female will both be inside feeding and caring for the cicks...lol....:)
But Billy goes in the nestbox with Lily and she doesn't mind.

Good luck..I will keep my fingers crossed:fingerx: :fingerx: :fingerx:
Your male is too young to breed and by the time he is, the female will be too old.

billy and lily i am not sure if she is 4 she is like 3 and a half i was rounding and my uncle started breeding keets when they were both 6 months..............also tiki was pulling out some of his downy feathers and giving them to polly an she put them in a corner
The male is still way to young.

Well good luck anyway...hope you don't push it too soon.
Im sorry to say i agree with amy. It might be better to wait. Also i don't think 5 would be to old as i've heard about budgie who were 10 and laying eggs. I would like to point out if you are breeding please keep a eye on the female if she is going to lay cause she could be egg binding
