i blame history

my boyfriend and i acquired our little green feathered friend on thursday. his name is harvey (as in: birdman, attorney at law). at least i am hoping he is a he. its a bit too soon to tell... he is a young one (stripes still on his forehead), and i wanted to get the youngest i could so i could have a good chance at taming him.
i spent all day with him today, and he is already comfortable with my finger. so much so that i brought him out of the cage and sat on the couch with him for a bit. i did trim his wings a bit, just the first couple on each wing. he can still fly, but he can only get to about my chest level (i am 5'10''), so i am glad he can still flutter about yet still avoid injury. he comes on to my finger easily, and i am very suprised that it happened so quickly! i was anticipating at least a few weeks of having him cower on the bottom of his cage when i stuck my hand in.
i am going to become a little concerned soon, though, if he doesnt start becoming a little more active. last night he started eating (quite vigorously, too!) from a seed treat i put in his cage, and today he was eating from his food dish, but he has not played very much. or at all, really. he just sits on a perch and stays fairly motionless. his cage is rather large and would be good for two birds, and there is plenty of room for him to fly across or play with the toys. i hope he is just worn out from all the flying around he did today, because i know i sure am
