Is it true that it is better to have two pairs of budgies so they could mate, because i have only one pair?

Yeah in the wild budgies nest in colonies so if you have another pair or even one other male that will make your budgies breed faster.Because the others encourage them!...lol...I have a pair and 2 males and the males always do the mating dance bobboing thier head and feeding the female....yeah its sort of better.:)

I only have 1 pair, but after they've bred, I'm going to buy some more budgies to breed with some of the babaies when they're old enough.

It is true that being able to hear other budgies nearby encourages breeding as in the wild budgies are colony breeders. However, first time i bred my budgies it was a single pair up in my bedroom away from the others.

Ok just thinking right now and i though of this. Why breed them. Your risking the chicks lives cause you have to find them homes and after there gone you have no clue on whats happening to the. Unless you give to family and friends. I would be worries that they are not getting enough attetion or food wor water and not let out of there cage or even worst let out of there cage outside. If my two breed there no wat in the worlds im letting my chick go unless one of my closes friend wants one but other then that i would never let them go. I would feel super bad to see or find out someone actadently let the poor bird die without a chanch of getting a better home or being over crowed in a small cage.

:) Guys they can breed with themselves and no others auround them, BUT having others auround speeds up the reproductive cycle. Its alot faster and easier.

where did you get your birds from ? a close friend ?what if you dont know anybody who breeds ? a pet shop ? never would i buy a bird from a pet shop in the uk most budgies from pet shops are imported from belguim where they are mass bred for the pet trade with no thought to the birds well fair

it doesn't matter whether you bred them in individual breeding boxes ( 1pr to a breeding box as I do ) or in an aviary like in a colony situation as long as they are well prepared for the breeding with plenty of good quality seed fresh water and plenty of greens.

I breed them in individual boxes as I find this is the easiest way to keep a watchful eye on the parents and the young, also I am able to identify which offspring come from which parents.
It all comes down to a personal choice.

I'm breeding 1 pair and they seem to be interested in the idea of breeding.
