I have a female budgie called Chrissie, and im sure that she is a female. But every so often she bobs, i thought that only males do that. Also she is quite vocal and never shuts up!

I think both genders do it.

I thought it was just a guy thing. Why do they bob anyway? I read somewhere that they bob when they are angry.

I think sometimes they bob to regurgitate? Just guessing...

i believe head-bobing is displayed by males budgies when trying to impress the female during courtship.:)
Well im hoping that bobbing any a sign of wanted to mate if so im dead. Sonic does it everyday for hours. Lilly will do it once in a while and i saw them try to do the bad once but it didn;t work out and they both fell fromt he lower pearch to the floor. They havn't try again since and i hope that don't. I have no nest box and i have exams comming up. Wouldn't mind so much in the summer cause sonic eyes are showing he is about 9 months old right now.
I've seen Vegas (as well as Shane and Jiblet -- all males) do it when they seem to be having a good time chirping a lot. They'll often do it while looking in a mirror. But I do see Kansas (female) do it every so often.

Petri does it sometimes too, and I'm told shes a girl ^^ She does it so fast sometimes, and against things like her food dish, that I think she thinks she is a wood pecker :P XD
My boys do it (not so much Oz) but my first budgie Tweety was a girl and she did it lots. She would head bop in time with my finger. :P I called it her happy dance.

Tiki bobbs his head, when playing in front of a mirror, in the morning, after he nibbles on our fingers etc, etc,:budge:
No...Well I think that only MALES do this!

Head bobbing is defintely a more male behaviour, although some girl budgies will do it, but not usually as excitedly, as often or as long. Head bobbing is definitely a sign of a happy budgie! Kiwi and Aries will often head bob in front of Skyla to try to charm her with their moves! It is so cute. :p
