Hello everyone who has come to visit Tangos Journal. Tango is my first parakeet and we are off to a great start in training. I will post some pictures of him as soon as I have some ready.

About Tango:
Tango is a four month old budgie who has come into my home from petsmart. he had his wings clipped right when I got him so he is new to this whole short wing no flying thing. Tango was the most active in his little cage at petsmart witch at first worried me, would he be really crazy when i got him? but he looked sweet and ended up in my home. tango is blue and white.

Begining of Training
Our training started on day two of him in his new home, this was very impressive because he let me put my hand in the cage with him wouthout fear. He was very brave. from there, I read to him every day and continue to. within three days he was/ is willing to hop onto my finger, get scared and hop off again. Tango desperatly wants to come out of his cage so that is what will happen next.

any suggestions on how to get him out of his cage are loved. thanks for reading:budgie:

i love Budgie

Tangos progress is slow but steady. when entering the cage with my hand he moves about on his perch but never flies away. I am currently working on getting him out of the cage but he is cautious and seems to completely ignore th open door. Tango is as cute as ever, he likes to fluf up his feathers and chirp when he wakes up. I am planning to buy him a cuttle bone today. it has been precisley a week since he came home.

Keep going with your millet ;) I know it will work one of these days. Cuttlefish bone sounds great and is good for calcium and grinds down the beak and nails ( a must have) Keep going. I find it good reading about your birds :)

Back to the start. Tango gets nervous when i touch his cage. I moved far to quickly and am not at all upset at how he reacted. So from the start now, I am returnong to talking and reading to him and rubbing the sides of his cage. wish me luck!

Good attitude! Best to let him progress on his own terms instead of forcing him. Leaving his door open when you're there is a good idea. You could even fix a perch outside it, and clip a spray of millet to that. Plenty of patience and perseverance should see things go your way. Good luck!;)

Amazing progress today! Tango is suddenly interested in millet and will sit on my finger and eat it. he will not willingly step on my finger but when i push on his belly he sits and eats his millet. taday i pulled my finger (with him on it) out of the cage! this was his very first time out. it was only about five minuets and he was very nervious, but it was definetly great! I got him back by having him perch on an extra perch and bring him into his cage. it was very excitong for the both of us.

Been four Months since I posted on here and I have a lot to tell you all about Tango. So, Tango is a great sport and a happy little budgie. Tango likes his cage and for a while came out on my hand. I went on vacation for a few days and Tango decided that coming out of his cage was no fun (im working on that) so I now open the top of the cage and he wilingly jumps out. I use a clothes drying rack as his jungle gym and he really likes it. He likes to run back and forth and nibble at stale piece of bread. no worrys, I replace the bread often. Tango has been great and recently took to the skill of bobbing his head. he likes to walk across his perches chirpin and bobbing his head even without music on. He seems happy
