Hello fello budgie lovers!,
I have tried to breed budgies a year ago, i was almost successful in doing so, but my cat somehow opened the bird cage and killed them both, I got so mad!
Another year has past and I am going to start breeding a new pair of budgies, which I am going to buy this week. I have thought about breeding budgies again because summer is coming up and this is like the perfect time to do it. I hope I can be successful this time!:)

Good luck. Sorry to hear about your last breeding disaster. You mentioned you are going to try again now that Summer is approaching. Do you have your birds inside our outside? The reason I ask is because, if they are outside where the temperature can't be controlled, the temp in the nest box will run about ten degrees higher than the outside temp. I can't breed outside in the summer because, with the normal outside temp in the 90s, that would make it too hot in the nest boxes and the babies would die from the heat. My breeding season, as a result, is pretty much limited to Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb., and March. (The temp is supposed to hit 89 degrees today.)
Again, good luck.

Well, I live in Richmond, B.C. Right now, even though its nice and sunny, it still gets pretty cold outside, and at night time gets really cold so im gonna be breeding them inside.

Im just wondering, what should the ideal bird cage size for breeding?
Im not really sure because the one i had last year. i think was pretty small.
Thanks. Dion.
