A friend of mine was told by a bird breeder (a neighbor) that Quakers make a nice family bird. So my friend bought a Quaker parrot for her 9 year old daughter. The quaker, Bella, is now very attached to my friend (the mom). Bella will go to the daughter too, but is very attached to the mom. Bella will get down and walk around the house to find Becky (the mom). Bella also will bite everyone else except for Becky and her daughter. Bella is a brute too, she will walk around looking for Becky and she will come over to me and step onto my foot and climb up my leg just to bite at me. She lashes out at everyone that goes by her cage. Both Becky and her daughter feed Bella and that must be why the bird only likes them. Any suggestions on how to get the bird to be more social to guests or the other family members?

They have not even had her a year, but it is getting close to a year and she can say Hello Bella and Pretty Bird and I'm not sure what else.

You can try spending time with her, feed her spray millet so she can bond with you. Have eveyone else do the same.

I love Quakers! Aren't they loud!

How about letting guests feed Bella Millet or something?

They are loud and like to be noticed! She is such a cute bird and a nice size not too big and not too small.

I will have to suggest to my friend that when someone stops over they should feed her.
