I have 3 budgies in a cage that is 24" high and 18 x 18 square
I have another cage which is 3 feet long but 18 x 18 deep and wide.
Since my budgies don't seem to like the bottom of the cage should I move them into the cage that has more flying area?
Good idea, but make sure they have little visits to it before they actually start living in it!

Actually, the larger the cage, the better for the birds. That allows them more space to fly and get more exercise. And, length is better than height for their flying. Both cages, however, sound good. Basically, I think it is just a matter of which one works best for YOU, at this point. Good luck.

I first want to paint it and decorate it (put in branches and perches) and then i will put it beside the current cage so they get used to seeing it.
I also have to find a proper stand for it.
They currently have a window view with the top 6 inches being in the window.
In the new cage I will have to set it up so that it is not entirely in the window as I don't want them to overheat in the summer.
What are you going to paint it with?

I will check the hardware store for child safe spray paint. If it is safe foe childrenit should be safe for budgies, right?
I will paint it outside and let it dry and air the smell for a week before bringing it in the house.
I suppose so, but see what other people have to say first.

No!I would not trust that just becaus the paint is good for children that it's ok for budgies...they the budgies have respitory problems develop alot easier than children would and it's not worth it.Ask a local pet store some supply paints and you can be 100% sure it's safe:p
