I am having such a problem with veggies.I have hung dandelion in the cage for the pst 3 days and Gizmo gave it a peck or two and that was it.Last week I hung broccoli for a few days nothing. They only come down to eat their seed so I hang their veggies from the side of the cage next to their favorite perch.
Should I just put the veggies in a bowl on the bottom of the cage next to their seed cup?Should I remove their seed cups? If so,for how long?
It makes sense that when there is seed available why should they try anything else, but I don't want to take the seeds out and have them go hungry!
What advice do you all have for me?:S

Most budgies usually have their big meals in the morning and late afternoon.
You can place the seeds and a few bits of veggies in their food bowl in the morning, take it out once they are done and replace the bowl with fresh veggies.
Once it turns around their bedtime, place back in the seeds.
This usually works with many budgies because the veggies are the only choice they have during the day. But at the same time, while they have their seeds in the morning and night, they do not starve.
Keep working at it Dot, it's definitely not easy and it's something you must be persistent and commited to. :)

have you tried cutting/shredding the veggies really fine and adding seed to it?
try this, and take out the seed, then add it again as softie sugested.
I've found shredding the veggies and fruits help alot. I mostly just dice them though.

I find that the less timid of my birds will jump on my hand to try anything I am eating. I usually let them if it is something they can have. They will either like it or turn their beaks up at it. My birds really like corn kernels (niblets), carrots and parsley, and of course their soak mix, which they took to right away. They started out with hunks of carrots and had a ball tearing them up and flinging the pieces within a 3 foot or more radius of where they were shreading.

my budgies didn't like dandelions, make sure your broccoli is wet and fresh.
The only leaf veg they would eat is lettuce and thats give them nothing but water, no nutrients in it.

Do what your doing is fine, most budgies ignore it for a while:) Try being by them, taking a bite out of the veggie saying how yummy it is and offering them some.
