He pretty much won't touch the stuff until he feels like the millet won't harm him sooner or later he will notice its really not that bad and by the time you know he will become addicted to it like most budgies are, but remember only give as a treat not everyday.

Should I leave it in the cage or take it out?

You can leave it in the cage so he gets used to it, he might just get curious and take a bite out of it.

yes. My newest 6 month old budgie won't eat millet at first, now he likes it more. :)

Its positivly normal. Its just like getting your budgie to try new veggies and fruits!

Haha! That's a different story. I've been trying to give him carrots and bananas, but he is stubborn as a mule.

What you really want to start introducing to your budgie are a variety of vegetables.

Millet tends to contain lots of fat so feed sparingly when you budgie does try it out :)

hey, well thats good its fattening! lol i wish tuffy wouldn't eat millet, cause he never stops, maybe its because he hasnt ever seen the millet in such a big size

I thought of that, so I cut it down to about 2 inches. We'll see if that helps.

All budgies eat millet because different varieties make up a large % of budgie seed mixes. ;)
