I have noticed some odd behavior from Tiki. When I lay my hand out palm facing down he dances about on my hand, and then rubs his tummy back and forth with his wings slightly spread. As soon as he starts this I place him back on the perch as my first inclination was that this may be amorous behavior. Am I crazy, what the heck is going on?:budgie:
Hehe, it sounds a bit like he might be mating with your hand! *giggle* Does he get all fluffy and excited too?

yes, he gets fluffy, oh no!! he has done this on my hubbies hand and Mom too when she visited the other day!! Any suggestions?
lol, you probably shouldn't let him (you probably don't want to let him anyway!) as it's not healthy. How much sleep time does he get. He should have about 10 hours dark, if he already has this extend the darkness time, he could think it's breeding season if he's getting too much light. :p

Yes, as soon as Tiki displays this lovin' behavior we put a stop to it. Let me see, lately he goes to bed around 9pm and he gets up at 6:30 or so in the AM. So perhaps he does require some more sleep or dark time. It has been very sunny and bright these past couple of days so perhaps that does have something to do with it. Thanks for the advice. He simply won't let Tiki play on our hands for now as it seems that it is encouraging this behavior. How funny!! I about peed my pants laughing from your responses! :laughing1:
So, did you ever have this problem??
Well never the mating with my hand but Blinkie flirts with ANYTHING!!! Fingers, toes, toys, remote controls, carrots.... :p He also likes mating with his rope perch, i i remove his rope perch he'll mate with his cholla perch. I've tried extended dark time but he just doesn't want to stop....typical male!

How funny! See Teek will only go this act if we have our hand it the cage! I have not seen him do this with anything else, to my knowledge, however, he is a flirt! He taps he beek and bobs his head on his toys and mirror! So cute!
*sigh* We need to find something to do with these flirty budgies. Blinkie's even corrupting innocent baby Oz!! So now i have 2 flirty male budgies who go hyper and stupid. :p
Why don't you breed them then?!:p You:
