Clipped Spike

I decided to clip Spike today. I clipped the first 5 primaries on each wing. He was such a good boy, he seemed afraid of the towel so I used my hand to gently grab him, he only nibbled and didn't bite. :D He let me examine each wing for blood feathers and there weren't any. Then I clipped him and let him fly. I'm very happy with the results. He can fly very well, just can't gain very much height at all. He really doesn't lose height at all, and almost acts like he can fly just fine, he only can't get to high places. Right now he's on top of his cage and attacking a toy. :p I have millet out for him too so hopefully he'll be nice and happy. :D

I'm glad to hear that you are satisfied with your decision, and he seems like he's going along with it very well. :)

I have also decided to clip Dallas today, but later in the day since I have to get ready to go out soon and probably won't be back until late.

He seems to be taking to it very well. He's just preening a lot and holding his wings a bit odd, but that's all expected. :)
I took some pictures so once I can upload them I'll show you all his new clipped look. ;) :p

He's such a good boy! I had him on my bead and he climbed all over me. :p
He kept playing with my bracelet and an elastic I had. He's seems so much more playful now. :) He also let me VERY gently pet his head, not like a head scratch but he tolerated a bit of petting. :D I'm so proud of him!

After those pictures were taken I lied out some cheap necklaces I got in the past, and he LOVED playing with them. :D

Hehe I pick on him about it. He'll preen them, then give me this nasty look. I'll say something like "Spike where the heck did your wings go they were there this morning?!" :giggle:

Just an update: I am so surprised how much he has tamed down in just one day! When he was playing with my bracelet he let me give him a head scratch. Right now he is hanging out on my shoulder when there are 2 perches a foot away, he'd easily be able to get to those perches even with being clipped. I'm so happy also that I know that he wants to be with me and I'm not forcing it, he can go off my shoulder at any time but he's choosing to stay! :D

They grow back so it can be corrected- Sharp kitchen scissors work best...Spike is adorable and you did do a good job clipping- I knew he would tame down ...wait and see what he does soon...u'll be in love!
