My baby's training journal!!!

Hello All!

This my baby's training journal! I have not named him yet (i'm hoping he's a boy) so if you have any ideas let me know! He's brightish (not REAL bright but not like a baby sky blue) sky blue on his belly mixed with white and his back feathers get darker into like a gorgeous teal. He's really pretty!

So yeah please stop around often and give me tips...i'm not an expert but i'm good enough.....my first budgie is stubborn :rolleyes: and I think he's lonely so that is why i got a second. I'm hoping I can make more progress on him....i already have!!!!!!

So I got him Thursday afternoon. And for the past 3-4 days I've been putting my hand in with food in it. Today (wednesday) he ate from my hand! :D he didn't step on my hand, but he almost did. I have about 15-20 minute sessions around 10:30am and 4:30pm so we'll see what he does later....I'm excited!!!!!

Wednesday, September 8th (continued)
okay so he steped up on my hand! once..(it's a start!!!!! :D)..but then he got freaked out from a loud noise in my house (i have my 2 younger brothers who have a friend over and they ran down the stairs rather loudly....so yeah it's sad) and then I was stroking his belly and then he bit me i don't know if he was testing me like a perch or if he was mad but i flinched....i'm so bad...I always flinch, any ideas how to help with that???? I would REALLY appreciate it!

Friday, September 10
okay so i think i made a break through!!!!!! he stood on my hand (eating partly) for 15 minutes....about 3 or so (of that) out of the cage!!!!! he never flew off either....but i started moving my hand but i could tell he was scared because of his rapid breathing and he was squeezing my hand! it was precious....I think of it as a baby clinging to a mommy...i don't know (am i right?). but i'm really happy!!!!!!!!! :D YIPEE!!!!!!

Okay so hey! Probably nobody's reading this but it's good anyways.
So after the last event he's been really scared. I think he's (or was) afraid of outside of his cage. But yesterday (Sunday) he flew out of his cage. He got up on my hand once but it took some guts.... :D Today, Monday Sept. 27 he flew out of his cage again. After a long time he got on my hand. I kinda pushed it....i'm not that great at this bird thing i don't think :rolleyes: so any tips are much appreciated! So after he was on my hand i moved him up to my arm. He stayed there! And then I put my hand up and he stepped up on it! I put him over by his cage and he hopped in. I'm so hoping this is it! That this actually IS a break through. I just want him to be my friend SOOOOO bad! I'm so excited! I'm praying! Cause I'll seriously cry if he just is totally freaked again.... :(

but we'll see! and i'll try to update more often!

hey, good work till now. he won't freak out if you work with him patiently.
just work on the stepping up a little more (3-4 days), before doing anything new.
by the way have you read the sticky's on this forum... they are helpful...
