View Full Version : Duplicating New Threads

I'm not sure if it's just happening by mistake, or if it's a glitch in the forum software, but I've noticed lately that when people start a new thread, the same thread ends up being duplicated in another area of the forum.

Just a word about posting . . . Make sure that you only post a NEW thread in the area of the forum that it pertains to.

Once you've posted the thread, do not duplicate by posting the same thread in another area of the forum. This causes problems because it not only confuses the readers, but then they don't know which thread to post on. The staff ends up having to merge threads because of it, and it's possible to avoid this problem if people would just remember to post only once.

Thanks,
Donna

Re: my posting the microwaved tiel post twice- I am sorry- I know I mentioned to you in the pm that it was my wireless but it could be the site -I remember this happening before where the new thread did not show when I went to my profile and all my threads or in NEW post- I might be wrong -I don't know if it's happen to anyone else. Sorry...

This is something to do with the site, this has happened to be once or twice and happens to Softie a fair bit too. :)

To Babyluv12 and anyone else who has had this double posting issue happen,

I don't want any of you to think that you have done anything wrong if this has happened to you unintentionally. I am only speaking to those who may post twice because they want their post to be in more than one area of the forum. (Although I don't know why anyone would want to double post a new thread.) One thing I might suggest is that if a person tries to submit a new thread or post and it doesn't appear to be taking, then don't click on the submit button more than once. Otherwise, each time you click on submit, it will keep adding another new post. Something I've done before is copy and paste my post on a blank e-mail page to save it. Then I've started a new fresh posting page and pasted the post back on the page. By doing it this way, you don't lose all of the hard work you've gone to. Sometimes we are just not responsible for the way our computer acts up, and in that case, there is no way you can avoid some of these problems.

Please don't think anyone is upset with you. I am just saying that if people post a new thread, just try and make sure you only post it once. If we start seeing a lot of the double posting, then perhaps it is due to the forum software, and if that is the case, then there is nothing the members can do to avoid this. I just don't want anyone to think that the staff is upset with them if the double posting took place and it was not intended. I am in no way trying to single anyone out so I hope that you don't take this wrong, or feel that I am pointing my finger at you.

Perhaps Dave can check into this if it keeps happening.

It has happened twice to me and I was sure that I was in the right forum.

What made it to duplicate was when I hit "Edit" and make my corrections, then "Save" and then I get another thread in the same forum.

I think that if it's taking a while to load and people get impatient and click the post button again it posts duplicate threads in the same forum too. So patience could help in some cases, lol. :P

I didn't think you or anyone was mad Donna. I just wanted to clarify the subject.

I learned early out that hitting the submit button more than once after so many seconds will duplicate the post so I know for sure it wasn't the case..As you can see it's being posted in two different areas for many other people so maybe it is site related?
