Well, this was Gracie's second day with us so far and she is truly a joy to have. I can't believe how well she is settling in!
So we gave her some broccoli and carrots today, with the obvious hope that she would eat some. Interestingly enough, we looked in her cage only to find that all of her broccoli was......GONE! We thought maybe she kicked it all out of the dish so it would be on the cage floor; that was NOT the case. Then we thought, maybe she actually got it OUT of her cage and it landed on the carpet; that was also NOT the case. Our only conclusion was that she must have eaten it! Where else could it have gone but in her tummy? It's not like broccoli can just spontaneously shrivel up and vanish!
Anyway, great job so far Gracie! Keep up the good work! You are a model budgie! :D

She cute and a fast learner. :D
I would have to say she is a model budgie, eating her veggies on the
second day. Why can't all budgies be like her. :p

What a good budgie! Think she can give Drake a lesson? Jadon eats veggies, but he wont teach Drake. :(

Second day and eating veggies! You have a smart and healthy budgie on your hands. :D
That's great that she is eating her vegetables so soon. It's quite possible that she will also be tamed and trained very quickly (if she already isn't!)

I think it is females that are really good eaters, Skyla and Edie and Joley all loved veggies. Willow and Sonny on the other hand are very naughty lol
Eating up ALL the broccoli with NO crumbs. :P That's very good of Gracie. My birds love making a big mess all over the place with it!

The boys already eat their veggies, so she wouldn't be teaching them anything new. :p Maybe she'll teach them to play on their swings though!!!
Well, it would appear that Gracie has had enough veggies to last her a while. She didn't touch them at all today! So in other words, she isn't quite the model budgie I thought she was. :p

oh fantastic!!
Aloha hates everything that isn't seed in the food bowl, not even millet!
Fig will eat anything that interests her, lettace, carrots, bread, pizza..She LOVES popcorn!! :p I'm working on them!
I hope Ice and Rocko are good eaters..my Cheekie and Petrie are pretty good..especially Cheekie..he'll usually eat every bite of his dinner! :D it's fruit, veggies, healthy people food, and maybe some cooked birdie food.
I need to get the "budgers" onto pellets (They'll still have seed) and more fresh foods..

Stick with it keet_tweet4. Even if your budgies don't eat the new foods, keep offering them! ;)

I think she's really cute and she wants to be a model! That's the only explanation about eating all her broccoli on the second day, without been scared of it!
Sakis was very scared of apple's pieces and anything that wasn't known to him.

It took quite awhile for my birds to eat anything but seed once one started the others followed. Its funny some of the things that they liked now they don't so I guess their tastes change or they just get picky. Mine like veggies but won't even try any fruit. One of their favorites is fresh corn on the cob which is a little pricey in the winter $.50 a cob but they are totally spoiled so I have been buying it for them. They don't get it every day though but when I put a cob in their cage it is usually all polished off by the evening. They also love sprouts and kale they use to love sweet red bell pepper but have not liked it lately. They won't touch pellets I have tried different ways with them and its a no go. I mix 3 different seeds from Kaytee forti diet, egg cite and fiesta that way I know they are getting veggies and fruits plus a bunch of other good things in their diet when they won't eat the fresh stuff.
They also get millet once in awhile and treat sticks they like scrambled egg as well but they only get once in awhile. Trouble with the egg is you can only leave in the cage for a short period of time as it will form bacteria if it sits to long so usually throw out a lot of the egg. What is funny though is watching them eat it. One of the birds like to take big pieces and walk to the cage door and then drop it on the floor. They like to see me do lots of cleaning. By the way they eat it also they don't just drop it on the floor. That was really great that your bird ate any veggie on the 2nd day wow.
