My boyfriend, Joe, is planning on bringing his Jess's (his sister) lovebird, Romeo, back to his house sometime when he can get a new cage for him. Joe and I were looking at cages yesterday evening here on the internet and weren't really sure what size to be looking at. We've read where a good bar spacing would be 1/2" or 3/4" but still aren't sure since every place we looked said one or the other. Anyone have a good idea as to what a suitable bar spacing would be?

Another thing we were having trouble with was cage size. Should he be looking for a longer one or a taller one? Once again, different places recommended one or the other. I suggested to get a taller one but he thinks a longer one. Any suggestions?

Joe has about $150 right now, but he'd like to spend less than that on a cage because he wants to get toys and such. His Mom said she'd help him out if he needed any money since she's a excited on bringing Romeo back to the house (when Jess got married, she took Romeo with her).

If anyone sees any cages in that price range here on the internet, we would reallyreallyreally appreciate it if you could post a link or something. I think we're gonna go cage browsing this weekend.

Thanks a whole heap!

if they are like parrotlets they need a good sized cage to fly around in. i've never had one though so its just a guess.

i'd feel safer with 1/2 spacing

They're the same sort of size as budgies so i wouldn't want anything larger than 1/2" bar spacing. I think they need relatively large cages cause they're really active. I'd look for something longer than tall.

People have opinions, Rutabaga though a budgie, would prefer a tall cage. Its more of the birds preference or what you have space for.

1/2 spacing.

Ok. =]
I had just thought a tall one because that's what kind of cage he's in right now. =/ And we figured on a cage a bit bigger than the one I have my budgies in right now (they're in a longer cage).
I'll be sure to tell him that that's what we're going to have to look for.
Thank you! =]
