Male birds have bright BLUE ceres and females have TAN to BROWN ceres. If your bird is a harquaillian-Albino,Luntino,ressecive pied...The cere will be PINK to PURPLE.

hi joey :) i hope you read this... that first photo with the girl budgie... she most definatley has a very bad case of mites... just in case you didn't know :( the second photo, the boy, hes got somthing unusual going on with the bottom part of his beak, but i'm not sure what... and the third one looks great eccept I can see some very redish colouring hiding to the right of his beak just under the feathers that I suggest you take a look at, could be nothing cause the beak itself looks fantasticly healthy :) but still can't hurt to look... if they're housed together my guess is they all have mites but the female one is very far into the torcher :(... sorry to be the barer of bad news, but it is a very painful and uncomfortable thing for them to go through, so I thought you'd want to know...

i think you may be wrong about the scaley mites. that's just a breeding female in condition. it's not at all unusual for the cere to become rough and raised like that and the flakey beak looks like it could just be calcium deficiency (some flakiness isn't uncommon in perfectly healthy budgies!). The second photo looks like the bird has been eating some soft food (soaked pellets, wet egg/biscuit mix) and it's dried in place, doesn't look like part of the beak itself. The third, the pink thing is just a fold of skin that's been revealled by the finger pushing the feathers up. :)

i wasn't sure if the last two had to be worried about, but i'm still worried about the first one. although i hope your right! cause my trisket has been starting to look a little like this latley (not as severe) ever since I stupidly brought home two budgies from work to university train them and let them live with mine... i learned my lesson! and i plan to bring her to the vet to see very soon.

I do not belive in the white circles auround the cere because I was told my baby was a female but meanwhile it was a male.I am 75% sure that Petri is a male because of the color blue.
