I read the following info from another budgie website. I realize this is one person's opinion, so I'm not completely sold on it. Can anyone agree or disagree with this?

"Don't put any supplements or other items into the water. Some salesmen try to get you to buy 'liquid vitamins' that you put into your bird's water to super-nutrient the bird. Those vitamins can make the water taste funny, so now the bird isn't drinking the water at all and gets sick. The vitamins also promote bacterial growth, which can also make your bird sick."

Some birds do not take to vitamins in their water it can give funky taste. It can also attract bacteria. Most people, if they use it, put a powder or something on their food or even better. Use a mineral block :) Budgies enjoy those.

I personally dont like that type. You dont know how much each bird is getting, too much or too little. I just use a mineral block and a healthy diet with no added vits.

I never used those and never will- they are not natural-That's like you taking a sleeping pill everynight to go to bed instead of drinking a warm glass of milk- not the best anology but I'm sure you get what I'm saying. Have a varied diet with all the suplements they need.

Switch out your birds water once a week with apple juice or white grape juice or cammomile, you can leave it in for 24-48 hours if it's a regular day, if it's hot out then remove it between 12 and 24. It's really good for them.

Unless you made the apple juice yourself it is full of high fructose corny syrup- no good- make sure you check the label or just give them apple instead- The chamomille tea is good- it helps their digestive system (and yours)=

Get the baby kind, in the baby isle...

Yes it is good for them, it's been recommended by avian vets worldwide. If you get the kind in the baby isle, they have 100% juice ones. Also Welch's does not use all the junk other companies use, now that Welch's is following PETA's advice and no longer testing on animals, Welch's is good to use!

No, all of those vitamin drops for all kinds of animals are useless. The vitamins quickly degrade in the water leaving them worthless and it distorts the taste making them not want to drink. As long as your birds get daily veggies, there's no need for extra vitamins.

I agree, I do not use vitamins unless my vet recommends them.

I intend to feed him fresh food as soon as he gets comfortable enough with me, but I've read that some people have a hard time getting the birdie to eat anything other than seeds.

Just be prepared to be patient with introducing things like veggies. Some people give up WAY too soon and their budgies don't get the proper nutrition as a result.
