Aww, he seems to really enjoy the water. I would keep him away from the hand soap for sure. You can bath him in the sink, just fill it with about an inch of water, some birds like it when the faucet is running so they can splash around in it. :p

As long as it's all washed off, and none got in his eyes, he should be fine. :)

Aww, picture picture.

I wish rutabaga liked water. He refused to bathe.

Hand soap shouldnt harm him unless digested.

No don't use soap use Dawn dish detergent. It's what they use to wash seaguls and ducks that get caught in oil spills in the ocean.

I will have to try the pie plate thing. We have had ours for about a month and they haven't taken a bath yet but its been very very cold here so I'm glad they haven't.

i have just recently introduced zee and pep to bathing. zee is a pro and loves to splash. we bought a stanless steel bowl (the refelction is great) and put a mirror in the bottom. she loves it!!! pep, however, is manly and does not need to bathe. he even turns away as if saying, i dont even want to look its that bad!!

Don't use soap at all. Even dish soap can be poisonous to birds if ingested.

I'm quite scared to let my budgie go for a swim, because it is really cold in our apartment because they turned off the heating for spring but if anyone reads this how do you mist your budgie? I only spray him a couple of times, am I supposed to spray him until he is really wet and then dry him off?

another great bird bath is the bottom saucer to a plant pot. You can get them a decent size, they don't tip (esp if you get the clay ones), they are bird safe (once you've given them a good scrub), and it's not so deep to cause problems.
