I have a question..
I was wondering if anybody knew anything about the WORST things that you could do to your budgie, but not intentionally!
Like info about food, toys etc.
Like, the things that you should NOT do or give to your bird
thanks.!
Well where do I begin! Don't give zinc, poison(!), Onion, wire, and a few other obvious things to your budgie. If in doubt, just ask!

why not onion?.......what does it do?
It is high in acid or something that can really harm your budgie. Also don't feed leeks or other oniony foods.
Celery is fine and they love it!

Great!..,......I was thinking of giving Lizzie some celery, i just wasnt sure......
my friend told me the other day that you can give your budgie "human food) i should say, as long as it is
> Not too fatty
> Not too salty
> Not too greasy
>not too sugary
Is this true?
Yes, but just check to be sure, before you offer it to your budgie.
Also if your budgie doesn't eat it there is nothing 'wrong' with your budgie, just try something else or another day.

well u can give them fruits which has sugar and egg buiscuits that usually come with the cage have sugar but not like candy lol.
Yes, you can give them natural sugars but nothing too sugary.
Also, don't give your budgie too many veggies, fruit, he will have runny poops and could get ill.

oh, great!
thanks, i didnt knwo that
so it is ok to give your bird seeds most of the time and fruits and veggies only sometimes ?
Yes, that sounds like quite a varied diet, but do you have any pellets or eggfood? Then your budgie would have the purfect diet!

no, i do not have pellets......what is egg food? (<lol, i dont have that either)
It's like this crumbly stuff that has little red bits in and smells off yummy egg.
Also you could get egg bread I don't know much on that but Budgiekin does.
No it's not ok to feed mostly seeds and only sometimes fruit and veggies. Fruit should be kept to an occasional treat as it is sugary and sugar isn't good for budgies but veggies should be offered daily or every second day. An all seed diet is the worst thing you can do for your budgie as in reality it is slowly killing it. An all seed diet leads to liver problems and fatty tumours. Celery is ok to feed but should be kept to an occassional treat as it is all water and provides little nutrition for your budgie. Some better vegetables you can feed are endive, brocolli, carrot, bokchoy, kale, and other dark leafy vegetables. Spinach should be avoided as it prevents calcium absorbtion. Apple seeds, chocolate, alcohol, avocado, salt and high sugar foods should NEVER be fed. You can let your budgie occasionally eat some bread too (wholemeal is best).
