I just had to put my favorite budgie, Vida Blue to sleep. I am so devastated. He was the one of my 4 who spent most of his time with me. He was my best bud. I was sick with the flu last week and i couldn't stop crying because he would have been in bed with me keeping me company. I guess it is appropriate that I named my site after him.Rosemary

Im so sorry. What was wrong with him? I know its a hard thing to do, but its best if they are not doing well. Rip little Vida Blue, may you soar thru the big blue skies. Hugs rosemary!

Anna, we don't know what Vida had. We have a great vet and she did a necropsy but they couldn't find anything. I brought a shoebox, tissue paper, and pictures of Vida and the vet staff made the shoebox beautiful with the paper and his pictures. He looked so pretty. Rosemary

What were the symptoms that made you decide to put him down? They did the necropsy at the vets? Normally they will send the bird to a lab where they will do the autopsy and examine the heart, liver, kidneys etc. test the blood and all that stuff??? Normally this is a 2 week process.

Surpised the vet, too, that the lab would not do the necropsy. The vet had to do the preliminary and then sent the organs to the lab. Nothing came up. He was only 4 1/2 so not old age.
Knew he was sick because he was puffy too much and he slowed down. 1st time at vet he weighed 36 g but the last time he was 31 g so I knew it was time for him to let him go. R

I am really really sorry to read about your Vida Blue. It's so weird they couldn't find what was the problem.. He was ill? He has symptoms? It was a necessary decision?
Please, try to calm down and think that now Vida Blue is in blue sky with Harry, Sakis, Skyla, Birdie, Apollo and a lot of other budgies and parrolets that left us for a better place. Now they're all together and they have a great time there.
PLease remember that we're all here for you, ok?
RIP Vida Blue...

So they sent the organs to the lab? If so hopefully they will have an answer for you soon. *huggs*

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. It is a shame that it was your loss that brought you here, but I am glad that you thought we would help you through your grief. I hope we are helping and that you will be able to tell us about your other three budgies in time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. From what I read in this topic you were a wonderful owner, and you did all that you could do. One thing I can recommend is to read the other threads in this forum In Memory. It may ease the pain - it did for me.

I'm very sorry about the loss of vidablue. He was a pretty Budgie and very special at that!

As far as being bonded to our little guys, if you're anything like me, I fall in love with them before I ever leave the store. So I can't imagine having a Budgie as long as you have, and not being torn up over it.

Rest in the great memories of vidablue. The special times that come to mind will bring a smile when nothing else will. Thanks for sharing your pain with us.

RIP vidablue.

Donna
