Just explain how you came up with your budgies name....My daughter named my 2:)
When Blinkie was a baby and i got him out of the nest box for cuddles he'd fall asleep one eye at a time in my hands, he was 'blinking' at me and so i named him Blinkie. Oswald is named that because i was looking at him on the way home from the pet store and he just looked like an Ozzie to me, but i don't like using common names so i extended it to Oswald (though he rarely gets called that!). :p

I named my budgie Kiki because I thought it would be a soothing name for her knowing that budgies like hard consonants and also if she ever talks someday it would be easy for her to pronounce.
I called, Dusty because he was grey (I was young!) Misty because she had 'eyelashes' and she looked like it to me, Bobby because it is a good name for a budgie and rather easy to pronounce, Lily because she looks like one and Billy because it goes with Lily and we didn't know what to call him. (He was going to be called Monty!)
Kansas is my dad's favorite band. And he said the only way we could buy her is if he got to choose the name. So he chose Kansas.
We chose the name Vegas because we love Las Vegas.
You've been to Las Vegas? Cool!
I never knew there is a band called Kansas.

A sad thing occured once. My grandmother had a budgie called Danny and when she relocated to Austrailia, the bird couldn't come too. It's really odd since Austrailia is where the birds originally came from.
Anyway, Danny passed away because he got very lonesome. Many years later she bought another budgie and named him Danny too. But she didn't have the patience to look after him, so within days he became our newest pet. We still have Danny and he's the liveliest budgie we've ever seen.

Ringo: (now passed away) I named him after the beatles and cause he had stripes on his head like rings :D
Figaro: my grandma named it, she wanted a musical name. It was named after the opera "The Figaro Song"
Aloha Coconut: My mom named it because she said his feathers looked like a Hawiian print shirt. Later I said it sounded bland, so we added Coconut which is a tropical nut, and Aloha's a tropical nut too:p
My other birds...
Cheekie Kon-Tiki: He came with the name Cheekie, and we added "Kon-Tiki" after the theory of people floating places on a blasa wood raft. :)
Petrie: I didn't name him this. His first owner Julie did. She called him this after the movie "The Land Before Time" there is a pterodactyl (sp) named Petrie and the movie came out when she got him.
My future bird..a B&G macaw...
If I get to name it, and its a male, I'll name it Beaker because it has a big beak and after the Muppets character. If its a female I'll name it Lotus after the flower or Maya after the acient civilization. :D

I gave them the names they have because felt right with those names. I know my names are gender mixed, but it fits their pesonality.

Chico - because when I first got him, I thought he was a she, so when I renamed him, I named him chico, since it means boy in spanish.
Baby - I wanted to stay on a role with having "cute names" and when I named Him, I thought He was a cute She, so...!
Bobby - Though it was a cute name at the time!
Marly - because I was reading a book Marley and me, do I wanted to name her marley, only without the e, so it wouldn't sound like I was naming her after bob Marley!
Gonzo - Love that name!

My first thought of a name was "don't pick anything anyone else on the planet will use and it has to be funny" so that makes name picking difficult and I think when I have children they'll hate me for whatever strange names I picks!
I used to live in Russia so of course I also speak Russian and the best way to have a name that no one in this country will have is to use ones from other countries. Then you gotta pick words that you normally would use as the name of what your intended pet is. So I made a list of animals and words that would be funny (in Russian); pig, horse, fool, idiot, crazy, dog, cat, elephant, etc. Then picked one that wasn't too long and difficult to say. One thing in the Russian language you can do is add "ik" to the end of a word making it mean like a little cute thing.
"Slon" = Elephant
"ik" = Ending to make it mean little cute thing
"Slonik" = Little Elephant
