Loot & Liberty
Liberty is an albino female & Loot is a blue & violet male. Liberty & Loot were rescued from a bad breeding situation, having had more than 35 children in 3 years. At the moment we have brought their breeding down to what we hope will be 1 clutch per season. We have allowed them to breed their 1 clutch this season and they have 2 eggs right now in the nest. The 3rd egg should be coming tonight January 12, 2007 and it's only 13 days until egg 1 should hatch!

I can only imagine what their babies would look like. I bet they will be beautiful! I'm still learning about colour mutations and genetics! :p

We have 1 of their babies here, his name is Moody and he is all white except for patches of violet on his front. They have beautiful babies! We rehomed 7 of them, all different colors.

Egg 3 is in the nest!
Well then. Sounds cute to soon be able to see pics of the baby's but because it seem so important for you to know why someone else is breeding i though i might as well ask. Why are you breeding. Its not like you really need more budgies it is. It appears you just want to do it. I'm not trying it be offincive here but since you seem to like to ask people these questions i though it should also come back on you. I also know that you cna find homes for these babys and you can take them to the vet as neededs so i will wish you good luck on this.

I am breeding because Liberty is a chronic layer, she will lay whether I give her a nest box or not, so I'm trying to bring her laying down to a minimum and hopefully prolong her life.
It's not that I "like" to ask people why they're breeding, it just drives me crazy when I find out a 14 year old with no experience has decided to breed because she/he "feels" like it. Breeding is a big responsibility and you should only do it if you are prepared for any situation. There are too many Budgies out there without homes, who could be adopted, I don't do this for money.
Is Liberty an albino? Because she has black eyes and an iris ring...

Her eyes come off red when you see her in person but I never noticed the iris ring... Hmmm She could be all white because she has been producing whiter babies.

If she's got red eyes, shes albino. her iris would just be a very light pink

Thanks, i feel the same way for breeding at the moment. I know enough to get by if my budgies we to lay without a next box but its not like i'm going to give them one. Best of luck with the breeding

Well originally they had 35 children in 1 cage. Some breeders went there and grabbed as many boys as they could get.
We were supposed to have gotten all 35 and the parents for free by the owners. But of course they weren't sticking to their word so we only got 10.
There were only 2 boys, Big Boy and Moody. Moody stayed with us because mom was still feeding him, he was a spoiled brat who still fed from mom at 1 year old! Big Boy went on to becoming a breeder because he just did not like people! He was in love with his violet sister... Not a good situation there, he also liked his mom a lot... So he's in a big aviary now choosing a mate at my friends house.

Egg 4 is her last egg this time! Very very good for Liberty as she has been known to lay 7 or 8 eggs a clutch! I am so proud of her for laying 4.
She has been incubating egg 1 since she laid it so 9 more days until baby 1 hatches.
