Captain's Bonding and Training Journal!!!
Name: Captain Albert Chesky Lennox the Great - Emperor of Kephalae (I know its so long.....I love it!)
Gender: Boy
Age: 8 months?
Okay so I've had Albert for a little over 2 days and so he's settled into his new home. He chirps a little and he's eating now so it's all good. He's also fine with people around the cage. (I have seven people in my family - that's a lot to adjust to I would think) Tomorrow I'm going to start bonding with him...so I guess you could say this is my little intro to my little guy! :budgie:

April 17th: I've got him interested in millet and now he will eat it even when my hands are about.....let's say 1/2 and inch away? I know really close, I'm now going to go try to get him to step on my hand to eat it. We'll see how it goes - it might not work but I'll keep on trying! I'm also going to open up his cage door tonight and see what he does. So I'll be giving more updates tonight! Thanks for reading! (and please give me any advice you feel led to give) :)

April 17th (continued): Alright....I'm SOOOOO happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got my baby to step up on my finger and eat millet. He sat there for maybe a minute and then 2 more minutes a little late and a little more here and there. I was extremely happy (and still am!)! but I didn't let him out of his cage yet...I didn't want to push it. I will hopefully let him out tomorrow...but we'll see. More updates tomorrow!!!!!!

April 18th (part 1): Alright so now Chesky will step up on my finger (most of the time) even if there is no millet. I try to hide it and then give it to him once he steps up. I'll be letting him out very soon. So there will be more updates in a little bit!

April 18th (part 2): So I let him out of the cage - ouch! The poor little guy! He's feet got stuck in our carpet so he kept on falling! It was SO awful...I had no idea this would happen. I got him with a towel and put him back in his cage. He's fine in his cage....he even seems to like me better. But now I don't know how to get him out. Please give me some advice. I could try to get him to a different room but I know he will fly off. Should I carry him in a towel/my hand? Will he be alright on a different carpet (just normal carpet)? Please help me!!!! Thanks!

You can leave the cage open with millet in the door way.
And entice your budgie to come out and climb on top of the cage and take fight :D
Can you remove the carpet or is it like attached to the floor.
( Like a rug you can remove :p )
He seems to be doing well :D
He's having trouble coming out of the cage on your finger?

Do you have any towels you could use? I know a friend of mine used to put towels on the ground (that aren't fluffy ofc) to give them a bit more stable walking area on her carpet. You don't have to cover your whole room in towels ofc :P but maybe around the cage?
