I may have started the training journal a little too late because its been about three weeks already but it doesn't really matter.
My budgie's name is Mario, he's 6-7 weeks old now, a few weeks ago I had gotten some false advice on various websites and was treating him wrong,he constantly bit me, but he was able to perch on my finger but never willingly, he always ran away and only perched if he had nowhere else to go. I've learnt on this website that patience is the key and didn't start hand training straight away. I started over again, just sat next to his cage, spoke softly and sang songs. He usually sat at the opening of the cage for hours before going out but now, well he doesn't really hop in and out but he never waits at the opening and doesn't go back in if I get close, he's stopped trembling when he sees me and I haven't heard him make that awful screaming sound he made when I first took him out of the box he was bought in for about 1 week ( which is about how much time I've been on this website). He still hasn't learnt to perch without running away on the floor ( he can perch without jumping down if he's already perched). What's changed is that he doesn't scream, he doesn't tremble, he doesn't immediately bite when my hands in the cage and he can eat seeds from my hand, he doesn't seem to eat millet out of my hand though for some reason. Today I started singing a song and he went crazy and ran around the room tweeting, but I don't know if that's a good or bad sign. I've also noticed lately that he never stops eating or scratching himself when I sit right next to him, he just pauses, looks at me once, notices that it's me and carries on.:)

Mario can now perch on my finger without running away, and he can eat millet even if my hand is very close to the point he's eating at! But he still bites my hand or nose if they get too close. He nibbles at my hair and straighten's it like he straighten's his tail feathers. He carries on nibbling at my face, and if I put my finger at the bottom, he nibbles on that too as if it's part of my face, even when I take my face away he carries on nibbling at it very gently, like he nibbles at my face. Also he doesn't seem to be scared at all now if I feed him millet in his cage, and all this in just one day!:)

Mario can now walk from distances to perch on my finger. He knows a whole floor of the house and I can put him in any room on that floor and he'll find his cage again! He also knows how to get from the top of the stairs down to his cage but he sadly still can't fly after a month with me. He can fly upwards to slightly higher points and he can easily fly down a little bit. He once flew down from the top of the stairs but his landing wasn't very well, and he didn't do that again. I can now make him perch on my finger even when he's in the cage and take him out! I also managed to scratch him today!:)
