Budgie Diet

[Lemon]

I was woundering,

Right now I'm feeding seeds n water to Lemon,

It sounds pretty boring compared to fresh friuts, nuts, vegies ect .. for my lovebird & conure.

Can I feed my budgie those things too? he's only about 3 months old.

Seeds do not have all the minerals and vitamins that budgies need to be healthy. "Fortified" seeds are not very helpful since they coat and shake the minerals on the seeds but budgies usually de-hull them anyways. A diet of only seeds and no variety can result in a malnourished budgie and can cause many serious health problems.

That is why vegetables are such an important part of their health. It is best to introduce veggies to young budgies as soon as they are able to digest it.

I also heard Nutri Berries are the BEST regulare diet for budgies,

They include fruites and veggies --- I mean when my birds take them apart you can see so many chunks of fruits n veggies in there, so I'll start giving Lemon those today.

I never knew that budgies enjoyed fruits and vegetables! Thank goodness that the other budgie my family had never experienced health problems because of this. I will be sure to feed Pearl as much as is needed. Thanks for informing me!:)

I bought my budgies these NutriBerries and they won't eat them! Huckleberry throws them to the bottom of the cage and from there, he throws them out of the cage. My baby, Rudie, likes them ok, but s/he plays with them alot.

budgies love to have a variety of food in their diet. such as veggies and fruits. lettuce is ok, but it doesnt really do anything so theres not really a purpose. but apples, carrots, frozen mixed veggies are good too. thawed out frozen mixed veggies are great too. :)
