So I finally came up for a name for my little guy today, and his name is Chance.
We first meet on March 22, and spent a half hour observing the cage at the pet store before choosing him. When I first got him home I learned to put the carrier box in the cage so there was no way for him to escape. He quickly became comfortable with his cage, and was singing and hopping around the first day. His cage is in my bedroom when I am at home, and out in the living room with the rest of the family while I am gone. I feel this has made him more comfortable around him.
After letting him settle down, on day 4 I attempted to pet him, and he let me even though he was a little skiddish. He would not step on my hand though, and would just side step every time. Everyday I would talk to him, and started to lure him on my hand with millet but it still wasn't working.
Over this past weekend he finally stepped up on my finger so he could get closer to the millet. He was on there for a minute or so, and hopped off. I was so proud of him!
Finally today, we were practicing stepping up, and he does it without millet. If only I could get him out of his cage. At the last second he hops off. He's such a happy little guy.
