Good afternoon :)
I don't want any chances of breeding between my three boys and one girl, so I need to seperate them in different cages.
Shiloh and Grace are in this cage right:
22"W X 15"D X 23"H
http://www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/4/4808100110B.jpg
After Christmas's quarantine, I plan on housing the three boys together. Do you think those measurements are enough to fit all three? I plan on letting them out of the cage most of the day.
Here is the cage I have been looking at:
25"W X 21"D X 30"H
http://www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/4/4258396514B.jpg
This cage is much bigger and more suitable for three budgies. This one also costs less, around $60. The black one in Petco is $70. I got the same cage at PetSmart for $50.
Now, for Dallas, I'm most likely going to house her alone and let her play with the others under my watchful eye so that nothing happens ;)
The quarantine cage is too small for her, plus the fact that she does fly. So I'm thinking the black cage that is Shiloh's and Grace's now, will become hers.
Any suggestions or comments?
Thanks :)

I was looking at cages sweetie and for 3 budgies you are best off with a cage with these dimensions W61*H70*D35 hope this help, if you look at Amys new cage that is roughly the size that is best for 3 budgies xxx :)

oh really cuz there must be a glitch cuz it came out as two threads.
anyway this is what i wrote on the other thread:
well i think if you put more tha one male witha female then they wont breed, so im pretty sure if you wanted you could just get one large cage for the four of them. now im not completely sure on this, i really have to reread my breeding info again. i think the cage you ahve now would be too small for three budgies. Although i geuss any size cage is ok for any bird if they are left out most of the time. I think the second cage you posted would be alright fro 3 birds though.

Yea, I just noticed. That's strange. All I did was Edit.. hmm.. :S
Anyways,
Angie,
The cage measurement you requested is way too big for me to keep in my room :( Do I really need a cage THAT big? It's more than double the size of the cage that I'm looking to get.
The three will be out most of the day, so I'm not sure if I need a cage of those measurements. But I appreciate your help. :D

I would love to house all four together, but I don't want to risk getting any fertile eggs. Dallas is pretty young and she won't be in breeding condition for a while which is also a concern if one of the males do decide to mate with her.
The black cage I have now is the perfect size for two budgies. Squishing one more in will make it tight and thats why I've been searching for a bigger cage.

well the second cage you posetyd should be alright if tehre out alot. The size doesnt really matter if there out most of the day. They just say the miminum because the majority of the people are at wokr or school most of the day and cant give them attention outta the cage they should so tehre for they need to ahve large cage.

I know it sounds big sweetie, but its the right size for 3 budgies, this makes room for toys and flying space. the other ones I was looking at was based for 2 budgies and this was the dimensions for that W60 H56 D32 xxx

I've been looking through the sites of Petco and Petsmart and I can't find one that big. And the ones that do fit those measurements, their bar spacing is way too big for parakeets and are more preferrable for larger parrots.
I guess I'll have to keep looking :)

This is a really nice cage if you wanted large cage, it can easily fit 3 budgies in it. This is the same cage i have for my 2 tiels.
theres the link:

I got mine from a petstore but its way cheaper on ebay, even with shipping.
If you have the room, and money id go with that cage. however if not then the second cage you posted will also work.
oh ya and it comes in four different colours aswell if green isnt your fancy.

Angie and Meghan, thank you for those websites :) Now, I know what size I'm looking for. Hopefully they will have one similar to those sizes here.
My dad doesn't like eBay so I'm not sure if I will be able to bid. :(
Thanks again :)
I know how you feel. I've been looking for a bigger cage for a while and each store doesn't seem to have the right one, or the one I want is hundreds of dollars. I'll let you know if I find anything that would be suitable for you!

ya i can understand why people dont like ebay, since you often dont know what the quality is like fo what your getting. My dad always orders computer [parts and stuff off of ebay so ya. and I baught my cage for which is the exact same as what i posted for about 300 bux at a petsstore so its a really good deal. Unfortunatly they dont ship to canada or i'd get another for when i get my budgies. Although my moms freind has trailer just over the border hmm i wonder if that would do...

One thing to consider is that the PetsAtHome website is showing dimensions in centimeters. Convert those numbers to inches and the cages seem much more reasonably sized. ;)
So a 61X70X35cm cage is about 24X28X14in

 I didn't realize that. Thank you Bojinx for that observation! :D
Ah, so now everything makes more sense and a little bit easier too ;)
Now, I am definitely thinking of that second cage (red).

That is a very good point Bojinx
Here is the cage I have been looking at:
25"W X 21"D X 30"H
http://www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/4/4258396514B.jpg
Those dimensions make it larger than Blinkie and Ozzie's (30"W x 18"D and H) and that's spacious for two and i could put a third with the time they get out. I think that that cage would be good for 3 with a couple of hours out each day and it sounds like they'll get more than that. :)

Thanks Bea :)
I usually leave for school at around 7 in the morning, and my budgies are still asleep that early. I come back home, at the latest, 2pm and let the budgies out as soon as I get home. They flutter back into their cages around 8pm after a nice veggie meal.
Now that it's second semester of school, I come home around 12pm, which means more time out of the cage. Shiloh and Grace just stay in my room during their time outside and Christmas and Dallas fly around in Kevin's room.
I just really hope that by Christmas's end of quarantine, that Shiloh and Grace grow out as many flight feathers as possible. Shiloh's growing some long feathers and Grace has little peeking feathers so far.

You would defiently need to buy the new cage.
The first cage you said has measurements a bit smaller than the cage I use for my one budgie. (I got an awesome deal on $25 :P)
Why dont you try stopping at some non-chain petstores? they usually have nicer cages for much much less, which explains why I got mine cheaper.

I did'nt know that either lol. The one you was looking at getting sweetie will be super, plus I like the top opening ones with the perch across, thats one that I want with the top opening, my budgies would love that, as they all like to sit on the top of the cages hehe xxx :)
