Hello all you budgie people...I have been a member for a little while and finally I am saying HEY! lol Anyway thanx for letting me join. I have 2 female budgies,but so far I have only posted a pic of one of them...there names are Peatry and Beaker. Peatry is 9yrs old,very healthy and is very close friends with my kitty (Molley) lol I know seems a little unbelievable but true. There is a little story about them in photos. Beaker came into our lives because Peatry seemed to need companionship and Peatry thrives on being queen of her domain over Beaker who is much younger and more timid. We did have a young male who while mating with Beaker was killed by her.I was told while I was away by my hubby who by the way doesn't realy understand budgie behavior that they were mating and after mating Beaker would become quite agressive and attack him,she was bigger and older. I found him sitting on a perch,very quiet and when he tried to eat he would fall to the floor,within a few minutes I witnessed Beaker attacking him,so I immediatly put him in another cage his breast bone didn't seem normal so I brought him to a vet where the vet had said a bone in his chest was broken and he would die. The vet told me to place him in a warm,comfortable place away from the females to die comfortably as it wouln't be long before he was gone. Sure enough (Ichechsi) thats was his name had died with in the hour. I wished I was home when he was getting attacked so I could of separated them,he prob would of been alive now. THat happened a while ago and I have learned a lesson from it.
I luv my girls they are beautiful. Peatry is molting more than Beaker this spring and I'm wondering if its because of her age,she's healthy otherwise. Hope to meet people who have budgies in my area,I live in Abbotsford BC. Send me a note if you live in my area:budgie:
