We're Looking for Staff

As you probably know, we're still short on staff. We've expanded Brandon's and Sue's coverage areas, but we still want a couple more people to help out.

We thought we'd try a different way of getting staff members this time around. For those who have been around a long time (I mean a long time), you might remember we used to have an application for candidates to fill out. We've decided to bring it back!

If you're interested in becoming a staff member here, just fill out the application (http://talkbudgies.com/staffapp.php)!



Just some background on the position:

We're looking for a moderator.
You'd start out looking over a couple forums. This would include the Introductions forum, as well as a couple forums you could choose or be assigned.
As a moderator, your job is pretty simple: make sure the posts in your forums follow the rules. Take appropriate action (edit, delete, etc.) to correct any violations. Any larger actions, such as moving a thread, or merging threads of various forums, would require a super mod/admin.
You'll help make decisions on reported posts, small/minor site changes, contests, etc.
If you do a good job, there's a chance for possible promotion to super mod, if we choose to go that route. We might decide to hire moderators for specific forums and they will remain there. This hasn't been decided yet.
Some tips for applying:

Please be honest in your answers! As you could probably guess, a lot of trust goes into this position. Lying on your application would not be a good way to try to get the job. ;)
For the open-ended questions, please post as much as you like. There is no limit. The more you tell us, the better we can judge your application. If you give us one or two sentences, you're not helping us out much. Of course, if you do write a lot, please break it up into paragraphs. :)
Also keep in mind that we'll look at the content of your answers, but we'll also look at the way you type, your spelling, etc. sum1 who types lyke tihs wont get teh job!!!!!!!
The information you provide won't leave the staff.
We will make a decision within a couple weeks. Only submit the application once! If you don't hear from us by the time we make an announcement, you probably didn't get the position.

I love how kind everyone on this site is. I follow a couple other pet sites and this one seems to have a lot of great people. I am sure it will be a difficult decision for them to make. I am also sure that they can't go wrong with the choices they have to choose from.
I am new to this site and I still have a lot to learn. Maybe sometime in the future I will be interested in applying. After all I am retired and have plenty of time. As much as I would like to say yes to being able to resubmit your form, we will only be accepting one. It makes our job easier when we only have to handle one form per person as opposed to trying to figure out which one is the one that you would prefer us to use.

As well, it also ensures that you think through your submission before submitting it, just as with traditional workplace positions where you submit a resume. Once it's in, it's in! ;)
