Wow, I'm impressed. This little guy is doing good. Some budgies do sleep on two feet. He may or maynot change to one after he becomes more comfortable with his new surroundings. Keep up the excellent work. :)

I'm honestly really impressed as well. This bird is the first I've tried to train and I'm surprised how well it's going....although after a while I think he got tired of me feeding him millet so i ended the session and let him relax ^_^

Thanks for your comment by the way! I was a bit worried about his sleeping position but hearing your reply reassured me that he's fine.

:) Glad to see how well your budgie is doing!! My budgie sleeps on two feet most of the time too. Worried me a lot in the beginning but the vet assured me it was fine.

Thanks goodness it's normal! I'm starting to get a bit overprotective with Seraphim. I constantly worry if he's too hot or too cold, if he has enough food or if he's lonely when I'm gone. I'm really happy to know that other birds are like this, haha.

Day 5 - December 28, 2009
- Got used to "stepping up" and no longer demonstrates any signs of nervousness
- Was held by several family members to ensure Seraphim that they are also not a threat
- Began target training
> Occasionally bites on the target stick and reward

Day 6 - December 29, 2009
- Gave Seraphim a grand tour of the house on my finger
- Placed him on the living room curtains to relax and get used to human activity (contrast to my quiet bedroom)
- "Step on" is coming along more naturally
- Ever since I got Seraphim, he's been avoiding his toys - is he scared of them and should I take them out?

No, you don't need to take them out. It will take him awhile to get used to them. How many toys are in there? You don't want him to be overwhelmed by a lot of toys.

It's one toy - but it's fairly bulky. Its basically several blocks suspended by three strings and a bell hanging at the very bottom.

It's normal for them to be scared of toys at first. Is that the only toy in his cage, or the only one he's afraid of? If it's the only one, you might want to try other kinds. My budgie is extremely picky and won't play with toys with wood blocks or bells really, he only likes things with fibers that he can chew on or soft, chewable wood (like bird kabobs). Other budgies also enjoy toys with mirrors, shiny/sparkly toys, noisy toys, etc. Let him figure out what he likes and feels most comfortable with :)
