Susan is a female given name, a form of Susanna, deriving originally from Middle Egyptian "sšn" (lotus flower), first reported on an 11.Dyn. sarcophagus approximately 2000 B.C. Susan is a very popular name, and variations are found in many languages. However, the Hebrew root for the name for the lily, שושן is derived from the root שוש or ששנ , meaning to be joyful, bright, or cheerful, which is the basis for the word and name ששון Sasson, meaning joy.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_%28given_name%29

My name's Teasha, I wish I did know. My dad said it meant something to do with the wind, but I'm not sure how accurate that is considering he drank. Plus my mom said he just made the name up.

My name is Robin. Considering we're all bird lovers here, I think we know what that one means! Or, you can see it as a variant of Robert, which means "famed; bright; shining."
Interesting story about how my name was chosen, though. My parents didn't know my gender and didn't want to bother picking out a boy's name and a girl's name - so they chose an androgynous one. :P

Suzanne-
From Sousanna, the Greek form of the Hebrew name Shoshannah. This was derived from the Hebrew word shoshan meaning "lily" (in modern Hebrew this also means "rose"), perhaps ultimately from Egyptian sšn "lotus". In the Old Testament Apocrypha this is the name of a woman falsely accused of adultery . The prophet Daniel [that was my mom's backup name in case I was a boy!!!!] clears her name by tricking her accusers, who end up being condemned themselves. It also occurs in the New Testament belonging to a woman who ministered to Christ.
As an English name, it was occasionally used during the Middle Ages in honour of the Old Testament heroine. It did not become common until after the Protestant Reformation, at which time it was often spelled Susan [ugh, I hate it when people call me Susan].

My name (Phillip.. duh :p) means "lover of horses" Which is ironic seeing as I don't love horses at all. I don't hate them, but I have no particular love for them :o

I was only called Phillip because it was my Grandfather's name, and in my background, the first born son has to name his first born son after his father... if that makes any sense :p So my first son's name will be Joseph, or Joe for short ;)
