I'm going to the pet store today to buy some things for my budgie. The cage is empty all he/she has is a swing to play with.

What toys should i buy and foods or anything else for the budgie that would be usefull?

Pettets, seed, mirror, fluffy rope toy things, wood things, more perches, cuttlebone, mineral block, bobble bird, playgym. ect.

Does this help?

i have a cuttle bone (came with the cgae) but he/she doesn't use it. ALso i don't want a mirror (cause it decreases the chance of him/her speaking). But the rest is good. I wanna buy some of that rope stuff :).

Amy

They eat them, that's not stupid, I didn't know at first!

You don't actually need them, Billy and Lily don't have them.

Don't get a mirror, mirrors are bad toys for single budgies as the budgie can form an attatchment to it which is unhealthy. Pellets are reccomended as they offer a more complete source of nutrients than seed. I just sprinkle a layer of pellets over Blinkie and Ozzie's seed and they're only offered pellets on their playgym so if they get hungry they'll have to put up with them. :P Some toys i'd recommend are: olympic rings, anything with bells, anything ropey that they can preen, a variety of perches (rope, cholla, calcium).....that basically covers what Blinkie and Ozzie have, although they have several different variety's of swings and toys and stuff. :)

I highly recommend giving your budgies pellets as, like Bea said, they are a more complete source of nutrients than a strictly seed-based diet.

And cholla perches (They have like holes in them.) Because you can poke millet, greens, ect, in it.

well they didn't have any pellets. Also should i buy scisors to cut his/her nails or can i use ordinary scisors or human nail clippers? I will be going back.

Just make sure you don't feed your budgie too many honey sticks as they are usually high in sugars and fats. The corn syrup that is put in them makes them a pretty high calorie treat, which can make for a pretty heavy budgie if they eat too much of it! :p

ok maybe ill drop that then, but are millets like a treat is it bad to keep it inside her cage? Or is bad if she eats too much, is it like food or candy?

Millet is generally considered a treat too. It also should not be offered daily as it tends to be high in fat. The best diet for a budgie consists of a mix of pellets (or "formulated diet"), seeds and fresh veggies with some fruit.

Good luck with your sweetie! And remember, if your little budgie doesn't eat the new foods right away, try not to get discouraged. Continue to offer them daily and they may just one day decide to check them out. :p

Jealousy. That's what happens whenever I put a treat closer to one budgie than the other. They'll get jealous. :P
