To introduce myself and give a little back ground info on my problem. I have kept breeding budgies and cocktails for many years i am also know to dabble in breeding Japanese Quail.
Like a lot of bird keepers i have learnt to diagnose most of my bird ailments myself which always seems to please the vet!
The problem i have at present is with a hand reared 3 year old female budgie named Little Baby. Little Baby has never flown, she will flap but with no lift. She will even jump and fall to the ground to come find me. She is in an open cage with ladders and planks which enables her access to the window ledge and other bird cages. For over a year now her right hip protrudes and sometimes causes her discomfort. But even worse is her excessive water drinking and peeing, it takes her 15 mins to completely soak a sheet of kitchen roll, rarely ever a poo just pee. She eats normally is acting normally. She is a seed monster and will rarely eat greens unless she thinks im eating it!
I am aware that budgies do not pee in fluid form this is the reason for my concern. Also her cere has been blue for as long as the excessive drinking. Could this be diabetes ? Or maybe a kidney infection ?
Her vent does make some strange noises. I have started her on Avol to try and bind her a little . Anyone with any serious advice, this is a special little budgie. http://talkbudgies.com/images/smilies/grbud.gif:budgie:

Do you have the means to test the urine for sugar? If it is bad enough, you should be able to feel that the urine is sticky. Sounds a lot like a bird I just lost. Do these strange sounds remind you of chicks peeping for food?

You may be on the right track and she has become diabetic, though in budgies it is usually secondary to some infection. It may already be too late, you will need to take her to a vet.
