I have had Noel and Star for almost 2 years. They like each other ok but never what I will say as "bonded". Star has come into breeding condition but they have never mated and Star has never showed an indication of laying eggs. I wonder if they have not at this point "bonded"(feeding each other, sticking close to one another, ) will they ever??? Noel at times seems to be her "slave" and follow her around all lovey dovey but that is about it.

I had that problem too. What i did was give them a break from the cage with the nest box and in a month i put them back in and they had 6 babies (weaning now). Are they alone and not with other birds? do they have everything needed?

They are in a big 36x20x20 cage with another male and female. That male is too young and doesn't really show any interested. I have only put in a nest box a few times, they seem to be afraid of it. They get a good 8-10 hours of sun each day, pleanty of toys, veggies(they do not seem to like fruit) thing to shred. What else would they need?

well, take away the pair you do NOT want to breed, then breed them, what i do is keep the male separate from the rest alone in the breeding cage for 5 days, then put the female in & he will be all over her!! :D thats how mini & oliver mated! :D

She needs to have constant access to a nest box to get into breeding condition. Make the box available, and she will become interested in it when she is ready to breed.

I had the same problem with phoenix and kestrel. For 2 years they never mated (she had 14 eggs in 3 cluthches) so i gave up on breeding for a while and put them into the aviary with the others.
But on Monday i saw them mating  so ive put them in a breeding cage and now she has 3 eggs. I never thought the'd mate. Its funny, when i wanted them to mate they naver. But when i wasnt even trying they have!!
ODD! but so exciting. I hope yours do mate as i know how it feels.

Good luck :)

That amkes sense. I will put it back and when it is the right time she will go it it.

I would LOVE to see chick from Noel and Star. Noel is my blue male and Star is my Yellow/white grey wing.(I know that not the right name for her mutation. LOL)

What do you do if you have seen them mate once and no eggs? The male has gone in the box but the female just sits at the door. she peeks in every now and then but...nothing. Frustration. Maybe I should just stick with what I know..gouldians. :-)
