I know this topic has been covered before, but indulge me please.
First, you need a high quality seed,is that correct?
Do you need a plastic cup, styrofoam,or glass container??
When you put the seeds in and fill it with water, how much water??
Do you cover them??If so with what, paper towel, lid if you are using a glass jar?
Sorry for all these questions, but I want to attempt this and see if Birdie would give it a try since it's supposed to be packed with nutrients. Also,if the seeds don't sprout does that mean they are bad and I should get new ones??
Thanks all!!!!
P.S.
Step by step directions would be greatly appreciated.:)

A lot of different methods seem to work for sprouting seeds. It seems that the key is keeping them damp and clean.
I just throw some mung beans into a canning jar that I happen to have, soak them overnight or all day first, then drain. After that I just rinse the sprouts several times a day. I actually have a small strainer that just fits into the mouth of the jar so I put a few layers of paper towel , put the strainer on so the bowl goes into the mouth holding the paper towel in place and then flip it so the jar is upside down sitting on the strainer. It keeps the paper towel on the jar and the strainer is right there when I rinse the beans. It works. I only do about 1/2 a tablespoon at a time. Sometimes the beans become dry between rinsings but it still seems to work.
To serve I put them in the bowl with the soak mix and pour freshly boiled water on them. The sprouts are very slighty cooked this way.

i have a big tree behind my birdcage.. and my male bird loves to roll in the dirt... some of the birdseeds have fallen into the dirt and started sprouting.. and at times, they go in and pig out on that while being pigs in the dirt...

I had to do this for science class once. First day I soaked them then I put them in wet paper towls for the remainder re-doing each day.
