:budgie:We have a 4 month old bird that is twitching uncontrollably. It's been going on overnight and started quite suddenly yesterday. There was a small amount of green poo yesterday but now it just looks very dried. It's trying to eat and is still very feisty and squawking. I'm giving it water via a dropper. Is this curable? I cannot get to the vet till later to-day.
There was a similar episode with the bird not long after we got it. It didn't seem to be able to grasp with one claw and it twitced but it only lasted a matter of hours
Chirpy the other bird appears to be perfectly OK

Oh dear....this doesn't sounds good. I am not sure what could be going on here as this is outside my realm of experience. You are doing the right thing by bringing your little sweety to a vet as soon as possible. (Is it an avian vet? Regular vets don't have the specialized knowledge of avian physiology and anatomy.....)

Please keep us updated with how your budgie is doing, okay?

It sounds like what my budgie was doing... Take him to the vet right away! If they tell you what is wrong, could you let me know? My avian vet wasn't exactly helpful, and I want to know why my budgie was twitching!

We took Essy to the vets and she was euthanazed. They said it could be liver related, that she was very thin and undernourished and the fact that it had been going on for so long was not a good sign. I now have 3 very sad children, this is their first tragedy.
If anyone has any further insight I'd be interested to hear.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I don't know what it could have been, but seizures are a very bad sign in a bird and there probably wasn't anything anyone could have done. Tell your children the story of Rainbow Bridge. It might make them feel a bit better. I believe it's posted on this forum somewhere, but if not, you can surely find it on the Internet.

Sorry about your loss.

I think it's a great idea about rainbow bridge. If your inrested in another budgie i wouldn't get another one like the one you lost as it may upset your childern too much. Try to get one with different colours as it'l give the childern something positive to think about if it has affected them alot.

Keep us posted!
