Jager is about three and a half months and I got him from a pet store about a week and a half ago. He was eating millet from my hand quite happily and I felt we were doing quite well.

Unfortunately I have been away for the last three days an d we seem to have gone right back to the beginning, he gets very scared anytime I am simply near the cage.

I shall have to keep trying and hope that he will learn to trust me again. Although I have canaries I have never had a budgie before and he doesn't seem to try fruit or vegetables for me, even when covered in millet though he will devour this on it 's own!

Last night Jager went back to eating a long piece of millet from my hand, and this morning a very small bit. Hopefully we'll be back to him pecking at my fingers in no time!

If he really likes his millet, check out Robin's Bonding and Training Tips. Jager might be a good candidate for clicker training.

Is he still having problems with the canaries distracting him?
