Hope and Kiwi

2 more of my budgies are now breeding. These two has laid their first egg today. Their names are Hope and Kiwi.

It is their first time breeding. Kiwi was tried with Bebe earlier (Bebe has 6 babies right now with Faith) but she resorted to the nest box as a hide out.

Kiwi is a type 2 yellow face opaline greywing sky bule.
Hope is a double factor recessive pied.

This is only my 3rd clutch. The first clutch 3 out of 5 survived. 1 has been sold. The other clutch i have right now they are 6 babies.

thanks. this morning while i was getting ready for school...they were getting ready for the 2nd egg if you know what i mean :embarrassed: lol. and i went ahead and marked the first egg.

it seems to be the first egg is not fertile. i candled it and i just saw yolk. and the 2nd egg had a surprise. when i candled it it was definitely fertile. i saw the baby! it looks like a small small tadpole and i saw it moving! with veins and everything! i never saw that before it was very exciting to see.

Wow that sounds great Jen, congrats! :D

It is a good thing you aren't handfeeding. Cause handfeeding TWO clutches, that would be crazy! I would never be able to find the time. Maybe during summer time... but I really wish I could again! I miss having little tiny babies! :D

7 eggs now. eggs 2-5 are fertile. egg 1 is not and egg 6 and 7 are too young

1st baby hatched today! my moms birthday was yesterday so we are going going to keep him and going to say he was born yesterday for her.

They are doing great. Eggs 1 and 6 did not hatch. Egg 6 was DIS. Why would they be normal greens?

Do you know who the grandparents are on both sides? I was a bit shocked too I was hoping to see little Kiwis:o

They are not JUST normal greens. There are 3 opalines in there. The top left one has a pied patch (probably split for recessive).

Edit: Just checked the parents - They will all be split for recessive pied greywing and blue, the opaline chicks will be female (so you already know you have 3 females and 2 males).
They are all green because the hen is probably not split for blue (she is a green recessive pied with very few markings).
