I was just cleaning Kiwi's cage and I took one look at it and I was in shock. There was literally a carpet of feathers at the bottom of her cage and she has been grooming herself a lot lately. Could she just be molting or is it a serious problem? She doesn't seem to have any bald patches at all but I was just wondering?

Thanks.

It is probably just a big molt :)

If there's no patches, I wouldn't worry about it.

Last time my budgie molted I joked with my hubby it looked like she exploded... we could make another bird out of the feathers in the bottom of the cage...lol

We have 13 budgies and the girls all seem to molt at the same time.
We clean them everyday and its a good day when one of the 13 are not molting.
We have so many feathers Sue wants to start a pillow factory;)
