Being a college student I go home to visit my parents about once a month. It is a 4-hour drive to get there. The first time I drove with Kiki I was a little nervous about how she would handle it. I took out all of the toys in her caage that could swing and hit her when the car was moving so I left one little shredder toy in there. I also covered her cage with a white towel to deflect the sunlight. To my suprise she had a blast! She loved the music and also the road noise. She was chirping and trilling the whole way there!

So what I want to know is do you take you budgies when you leave town on a little road trip? If so, how do they like it and what do you do to ensure their safety?

We take our budgies to someone else's house whenever we go on vacation. To get there, they have to take a little car ride. They're usually scared at first but they get used to it. Before we put them in the car we empty the food and water containers so they don't spill (it's only a few minutes they're without food/water). We also take down the swings. Other than that we leave everything else intact. They usually don't mind the rides except for the occasional bump in the road.

Blinkie adores car rides as do all the other budgies i've we've ever had to take anywhere. I just empty the water so that doesn't spill and that's it. Blinks tweets his head off at the sight of trees and cars rushing past.:P
