It's kind of late but I wanted to make sure it was going to happen before I made a journal. I'm using this for my lovebirds too.

This is my first time breeding budgies. I got done selling my lovebird babies awhile ago and decided to breed a pair of budgies. Well Royal is a male dark blue and Angel is a grey female. Ok well they laid their first egg about 20 days ago and so on until there were 6.:D On August 7 I woke up and heard peeping. (I didn't know where it was coming from because my lovebirds have eggs also.) So I put my ear to each and sure enough it was my budgies. :D So the next day I wanted to look and see if it made it through the night and if Angel was feeding it, and she is :o This is her first time breeding and she is such a good mom, Royal is a good dad as well. He goes in the nest box sometimes and helps Angel. He feeds her through the door also it is so sweet. Well the blub crop is full every time I get to check it (which is not that much because Angel is always in there). It has black eyes. Ok today I checked and to my surprise there were to blubs and 4 eggs (I didn't expect the second to hatch until later on tonight) and the weird thing about it is I don't see any eye. It's crop is full and its moving around, but it doesn't look like the other blub. I know it means it has red eyes but how does it. Both parents have black. Oh yes how come 3 of the eggs are white and 1 is off white? I don't know what kind of mutation the parents are, I'll post a picture as soon as I can. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks, and wish me luck.

The parents sound gorgeous, would love to see pictures of them!
To answer your questions, the reason the second baby has red eyes is that she is a female Albino. (meaning dad is split for Albino) And the reason the other eggs are white and one is off-white probably means the off-white one is either dead or infertile, but leave it in the nest anyway. :)

I also had 5 eggs and 1 off white. I had a four day wait between the first and second egg, so I am guessing that it is infertile as all the other hatch and the off white didn't. it been 3 days since the last baby. Congrats on the babies and good luck.

Off-white usually means infertile or dead, but you should wait until it is overdue to hatch before you take it out, just in case.

I know the albino is a girl, because neither of the parents are Albinos are they? That means the dad is split for Albino and will pass that onto half of his daughters. So any red-eyed chicks are female Albinos, from their dad.

o ok thank you. well so far all the babies hatched but that one :(. but 5 babies are good. no none of the parents are white. thank you for the help now i can pick her a name. :D

well the sad news is angle hasn't been feeding them right, i don't know why but i think im going to have to hand feed them. just in case my mom took me to the pet shop today to get the bird formula, i got medicine droppers that are 5ml and 1.0ml, that's all i could fined. i was just wondering do i put the babies back in the nest book or do i put them in a incubator? how often do i feed them and how much. also i read somewhere that you don't feed one day old babies, well i have a 2day old baby and i was wondering how would i feed it.

sorry for all the questions. thanks again for the information.
p.s ill post more pitchers when i can.

ok sorry its been awhile. i have been to busy.

well the good news is angles started feed them again. the sad news is she only feed the older two. they are getting so big now. the first one is about 3 weeks old & the second one is a day behind the first. the first one i named moomoo is gray just like its mama. the second one is all white with red eyes i named fluffy. i handle them for about a hour everyday. angle has no problem with me interacting with them. i will have pic up as so i can.

the lovebirds babies are all doing fine. they are growing fast as well. they are being feed all the time. i have a question about them. i want to handle them like i do the budgies, but i dont want the parents not to take care of them when i put them back in the nestbox. do you think it would be alright for me to handle them? i will also post pic as soon as i can( have to buy a new camera).

but thats my update. i will post pics soon.
