Bebe and Faith

OK so over the past 2 weeks Bebe and Faith have been bonding in a cage with a nest box. they are both over a year and they have bonded so well they laid their first egg yesterday! August 1st!

Bebe is the father and Faith is the mother. Faith was originally paired with my other bird Hope but i believe they are related so im not going to breed them.

This is Bebe's second time trying. i tried earlier with my other bird Kiwi but they didn't lay any eggs. they just used the nest box for safety. So i tried again.

They are both over a year and don't bite. but they aren't the friendliest. sadly they are on a seed diet but Bebe will reach out and try some carrots every now and then. im trying to get them onto pellets. or was now i cant because they are breeding.

i love how their colors are like the opposite as each other. i know their mutations. they are in my binder for breeding that i made but i don't have that with me right now. does anyone know what the babies will look like?

i went ahead and marked the egg. i didnt do that with my last clutch so i wanted with this one. my last clutch i lost 3 babies out of 6 so please wish these guys luck!

im back. vacation was good and i came home to an awesome suprise! while i was gone look what happened!

seven! she laid 1 more than my last one.

one problem. isnt that too many for them to take care of? this is their first time. my other pair bred back in june/july. is there any way i could give them 2-3 eggs? or babies? would they take them as their own without mating themselves? or should i just take out the older babies to ensure the little ones get fed? the last pair laid 6 eggs. all hatched but 1 and 2 died because they werent fed. what should i do?

My First question would be, have you candeled any of them? It's a possibility not all of them are fertile and you may not have to worry at all. Granted it looks like these birds have a good track record with fertile eggs, but it's one possibility. To be honest, I'm also not sure how well budgies do with fostering when they don't already have thier own clutch going, and even then it's somewhat tentative. Personally, what I myself would do, is to let them hatch keep a good eye on them, if you notice the younger babies not getting fed enough, you could always try a little supplementing with the older babies so they don't tax mom and dad and the rest of thier sibs as much ;) I just hate the thought of discarding eggs and not giving the little bubs a chance, but I'm a wee bit sentimental hehe. Anyways, whatever you decide, I hope all goes well for you!

well im only back for 1 day im leaving in like 5 min. i candled before i left the first time and that only when i had 5 eggs and the first 3 are fertile the other 2 were too young to tell. i will candle again tomorrow. and im going to keep all the eggs with them.

yup im so excited. i cant wait for the next one.

i have a lady coming over tomorrow to check out the birds. she is going to get one for her son. either a green one from my last clutch or wait for one from this clutch. so thats good.

whats also good is that my dad let me have Hope and Kiwi (other budgies) so im going to breed them. They are yellow resessive pied i believe and a YF type 2 or whatever. i cant think of them off of my head. they are in my sig.

He is giving me those because we are getting another cockatiel and he will live at my dads. so finally i have my whole flock (11 birds not counting eggs) in my bedroom and they are out like all day! its awesome!

yes it is crazy with all 11 out. they all love flying so thats all you do and very often one will land on you and start like nibbling your hair. they love it. i got my 2 new cages and they are awesome.

i just cleaned their room very thorough. its my bedroom and i have 8 cages in there and school was taking over so Ive been working in there for the past 4 hours. almost done. all the birds are chirping.

i cant wait till they get old enough to play with the adults :D

Aww your soo lucky and boy it hard to have time for my budgies anymore, i have school and practice, I leave at 7:45 am to school in the morning and dont get back home Till 7pm, Im never home :( and then i have home work, So i bearly have time for them but i still love them ha. well its late i just got home from a school football game. i just sold one of my older babies and one of these guys from bebe and faith to a lady that i know. her mother has macaws and cockatoos. they are very nice. so one is already bought. i will post more tomorrow

i went ahead and removed the infertile egg. i candled him again and you could clearly see the yolk and no veins or baby. but i have 6 healthy ones that i hope all make it!

they are doing great! one question as you can see on baby 3, he has stuff on his beak. which is poop. lately faith has been getting a full layer of poop on her beak and i take her in the bathroom get it moist and clean it off. these babies are getting it but not as bad. i didnt have this problem on the last ones. what do i do? i now have 6 babies not 3.

they are doing great and are really coming out of the nest box. 3-4 are out at a time then faith rounds them back into the nest box. baby 1 is really flying now and is doing great.

They are all beautiful. I love how they range from normal to almost completely white.

i dont know frankie these ones seem healthier. maybe it was the parents. not sure.

and i am going to sell them. i need to cut down on my budgies so im going to sell a few other than the babies.

they are doing great though. by the end of the week i hope they are all weaned.

i have a delima. i caught bebe and faith mating again so i separated them and put her in a cage with tweety and his son firecracker and now tweety is feeding her. i dont know what to do. i dont want her having more babies but i dont want to kill little babies. oh help!

If she doesn't have a nest box, it's not likely that you will have a problem.

why dont you keep her with other females or just her children

You should def. keep her separated for a while. I want to ask which website do you use to sell your budgies? I have 4 babies that I would like to sell two of them. But I don't know where to post.

2 were already sold. The mostly blue and a white ones 4 are left and 2 will be sold again. Speckle and Mya are the ones that might be bought.
