You can start by asking yourself "WHY?", why do you want to breed in the first place?

First question is "why do you want to breed?"

Well if you have time on your hands, know exactly what you're doing, got access to a near vet or avian vet then I think it would be ok and to make sure you have everything. I'm just saying what others said to me when I asked about it with budgies.

You said you will have the room so you could. It really is up to the person at the end of the day but I think you would be ok breeding. ;)

If you do plan on breeding make a list of the things you need (like the most important or the not so important which are still needed if things get out of hand). First do some research if you are capable of breeding them. Also keep a book for what day the eggs get laided and when they hatch. Also keep a list of the nearest vet with the address and the phone number just incase something happens. You always want to be prepared.:)

Once breeding starts, you have to understand that it takes a lot of time, consideration, patience and commitment. There are also very dangerous and serious health risks that you are putting your tiels in. It's just something to think about and be really sure of.

In my opinion, I would say no unless you are willing to take the responsibilty straight on. There's a time in for everyone when we wanted to breed our tiels or budgies or any other bird you have. I even wanted to. And it was for your reason, because I loved them too much.

Truth is, I'm no where near close to understand the entire process. I've only had budgies for about 4 months now and that's not long enough to know even half of what there is to know about them.

But if you have had your tiels for a long time and been researching and doing your homework on their breeding process, it's all up to you. Of course, it's exciting :) But it's a big step in yours and their life.

I think the key question is why? Are you breeding just to have cutesy babies? If you're going to breed, breed for a reason. Breed to show or improve the breed. There are so many homeless birds, just breeding to have babies is taking away their potential homes. It's not a valid reason. I can't even tell you how many birds are sold to pet shops from back yard breeders and then eventually end up in shelters.

I agree with the others too, if you have the time on your hands, the money and an avian vet who can be available should you need it then go ahead xx
