:budgie:I have noticed my budgies leg is just hanging down behind the perch, he doesn`t put any weight on it at all, I took him to vet, he gave injection of cortisone and said to give it 2 weeks, if it didn`t go right it was always going to stay like that! he is fine in every other way, whats caused this.

I'm sorry to hear about your little fella.

I have never had this happen to any of my budgies so I am not sure what might be going on there. How old is your little sweety?

I'm wondering if it is possible that he had a stroke and ended up with some nerve damage......

Has he been tested for a tumour? Sometimes when they develop in certain parts of the body, they can place pressure on nerves and affect mobility.....

How long ago did he have the steroid injection?

I do hope your little guy is okay. Please keep us updated with how he is doing. ;)

I am at a loss as well. Is your vet an avian vet?
I would recommend blood tests to rule out anything such as tumours. An avian vet will give you a course of treatment. Is he able to get around easily?

Oh, no - I am so sorry to hear that Carola is having a hard time. :( Lameness can have a number of different reasons; I too would recommend a return visit to the vet. Sometimes it is hard to pin down the cause without a number of tests. I sure hope it starts showing some improvement.
